  • nice playing.. how uve been playing? LOL

  • to the comments below me, i lol'd

  • fuck rusty cooley

  • everybody respects rusty cooley

  • Comment removed

  • he broke his fingers playing too fast, then got robotic type ones surgically inserted so his fingers could keep up without breaking.

  • 1:55 A distant galaxy implodes somewhere in the universe..."Alright-there's sevens over a group of two..." xD

  • Anti-playing, Anti-tone and Anti-music..... bratssssss

  • His passion and feeling for the guitar are in his hands in his music, enough said

  • This is a guitar hero

  • he played so fast i'm now in 1881! :O

  • i can do that but i play it faster...

  • this shit sucks cause its TOO fast, no feeling, garbage.

  • @Prenner111 OMFG will you fuckign twats stfu with this no feeling shit, if you could play this fast you'd post hundreds of videos doing so, so shut the fuck up.

  • @Prenner111 Thats why its shred and nothing else. If you drive 220 kmh upwards in a car your not interested in sitting comfortably...

  • @Prenner111

It's a technique instructional video... What did you expect?

Judge what you think by listening to a persons music, not by a technique video unless you want to look like an ass.

  • @Prenner111 Don't worry, he can probably play with more speed than you and also more feeling when he wants. Also, aggression is a feeling. Aggression= speed.

  • What the fuck

  • he's damn good, he's probably better than most of the guitarists on earth and God knows how much I love shred, but he only played scales during his whole life. no melodies, always the same rythm the same picking technique... hard to listen for too long, no genius. remeber, great technic is WORK but great melodies is PURE GENIUS. only my opinion...

  • @splendora well i see your point, and to be honest it's quite true.

but you should chek out "jazzmine's" song from rustys solo album, it is really cool and beutiful

  • @splendora True but hes one paid guy!

  • great ... but wheres the feeling :P

    (just bein a dick lol)

  • MOVE OVER John Petrucci, here comes Rusty Cooley!

  • @MCLOVIN50 But he doesn't have hulking biceps

  • @MCLOVIN50 In terms of speed, yes. Song writing, feel, melody... Hell no.

  • @xiozthunderplums Agreed, as I was referring to his speed hahaha

  • he plays it like it was a sunday drive for him O_O

  • his playing is just plain funny.

  • at first i was like -.- then i was like 0.0

  • Can't believe i'm going to get his dvds. I think the only thing i'm going to do when i watch them is jizz then throw my guitar away lol

  • epic fail

  • WOAH!!!!!

i think i just shit myself (kidding) but seriously...woahhhhhh =]

    dude your the man!

  • mais putain c'est trop rapide ça sert à rien --'

  • lol this isnt fair

  • no thats just what 17nps looks like

  • It's Rusty Cooley. RUSTY COOLEY.

  • This is my new fave lick!

  • Fucking bastard.

  • @PrinzEugenMCMLXXXIII

    But in a good way ;) :)))

  • check out Dream Theaters Erotomania solo

    string skipping, octaves...

  • How? just how does he do it?

  • I love how ridiculous rusty is, and hes not like CHECK THIS SHIT OUT IM AMAZING, its like so yeah this is how its done, keep practising and youll get it!

  • it takes him 43 seconds to play the sevens slow and ten seconds to play at his speed..damn him and his speed

  • @jivejames67119 how the fuck can one dude go that fast lol

  • He has the same exact personality as Terry Syrak but has the Chops to back it I guess.

  • 1:18 he makes a little mistake O_O

I've never seen him making a mistake...

    But now...

    So.. He's human!!

  • I think its funny that the only mistake he DOES make it when he's playing slow, but when he shreds at 100 miles an hour he doesn't make a single mistake :)

  • LoL, so true xD

  • that or else he's going so fast that we can't tell if he made a mistake, speed can cover up alotta' stuff, though to his credit it does sound perfect lol

  • Thats a very simple approach to the freatbord, and it works fine. Perhaps not to people trying to improvise over complex changes, but in a shredding context it's great.

  • they do they do

  • he looks like jim carrey with metal hair doesn't he?

  • good stuff!! and for ppl dissing this guy saying he just plays fast HAVE u listened to Dark Matter

  • yeah damn listen to the band Outworld he's beast

  • you can kill for do what he does

  • nahh!! :D

  • it's an instructional video you bag of douche.

  • obviously. it's an instructional video meant to teach picking speed

  • ur a dumb ass.

  • I CAN PLAY 40000 MPH!!

    playing speed is bpm bro.

  • @phuKKah or nps

  • this video.. is fucking ridiculous! all hail this man

  • They are both just insane guitarists.

  • I like the way this sounds slow more than i do when its played fast, kinda like a upbeat catchy Violin line :) however learning this has helped me with my improvisation. however Im sure that the oli herbert Rock House Method DVD will blow this one out of the water!

  • Speed is the means to an end. When you have an incredible technique such as Rusty's, you never run into a wall when it comes to improvising. You can easily translate your mind's ideas into the guitar and there aren't any limits to what you can play. Look at Shawn Lane, easily one of the fastest guitarists EVER, yet he chooses to employ melody over speed and theatrics. He's got both those, but is very tasteful in their usage. Rusty's band Outworld displays his tastefulness as well.

  • i bet if Cooley composed something slow and fast he would rip our faces right off :P

  • From so far away, All Shall Perish. Thats him playing

  • yes i used to do that, but it doesnt go according to musical studys.you have to play the scale that is in the same key as the song, and fraze.

  • actually it doesnt matter what notes you even hit, a new study shows effectively that when playing something close to that speed or faster our minds pick out differing notes played and we try to comprehend and create our own melody. pretty insane eh?

  • there is nothing wrong with playing really fast, but it has to have a melody therefore rusty has captured that

  • I'm sorry but it is indeed a lot easier to acquire speed than the musicality.

    Just ask any established guitarist.

In fact why not drop rusty an email and ask him yourself.

  • What do you generally mean when you say "high frets" ? (i'm italian so heh..)

  • You can't honestly say this stuff is that hard. Speed is one of the easiest things to master on the guitar.

However, he has many great tutorials for helping out people and developing fluid playing.

  • I agree, speed is the easier part.

It is musicality, and rhythm that you have to work for.

  • I agree. Too many guitarists these days rush into trying to shred and don't bother with the basics.

  • someone explain to me when you know you have this so called rythm that you slow guitarists keep talking about.......no offence

  • its not just his speed that is amazing...its his composition...

  • someone explain to me when you know you have this so called rythm that you slow guitarists keep talking about.......no offence

  • lmao why was that a reply to my comment?

  • but can anyone tell me?

  • Playing fast goes along with rhythm.

What I was getting at is, too many guitarists are obsessed with trying to play scales extremely fast without making it sound good.

  • oh well then im good. lol

  • You know those parody videos where the video has been edited to sound super fast, well it sounds like that, cept I know this wasn't edited.

  • holy shitballs!

  • What the fuck.

  • lol no

  • I'd buy his guitar if he made it neckthru, and because of the angled pickup, threw in 3 more frets 25, 26, 27.

  • just bend the string to hit those notes! haha jk. that guitar is like 3k anyways. Hes an amazing player though.

  • Yeah, I'd honestly prefer the ESP Japanese Kiko guitar, its 27 frets and neckthru. Either way, Rusty eat any guitarist alive... before their born.

  • Oooh ESPs are great. Id definitely get one of those.

  • i dont think frets that high would sound all that great lol

  • Its great for a G major Arpeggio, but to compensate I just play a double octave pinch harmonic on the 3rd fret for the last note. Its like the crossroads duel with steve vai, and the tele parts ry cooder did, it has arpeggios from Paganini's 5th caprice, the end run ends up hitting a high A and it sounds rad, but you cant hit a high A without it being a harmonic, unless you have a tele and you use the neck pickup as a fret. Sorry, Im a freak.

  • lmao! i love that movie! just watched like 2 nights ago, bought it off amazon :D

  • damn i suck :P

  • watching this is like beating yourself with led pipe. u just can't win ! :)

  • XD Lol

  • if theres anythin contrasting to his guitar its his voice...

  • if theres anything thats contrastin to his guitar its his voice...

  • eveyones mind within a mile radius has been melted

  • doesn't even break a sweat when he goes full speed. damn!

  • Does anyone know what´s the deal with Outworld ? Any rumors ? anything ?

  • broke up

  • i heard they were writing a new album?

  • Broke up from what I heard. Bobby and Carlos left, and they are now looking for a heavier sound with another guitarist instead of a keyboardist.

Honestly, I don't think they'll ever bee the same again. Their self-titled album is one of THE BEST albums ever recorded if you ask me. I'm just glad I got to see them live when I did. :)

  • @xiozthunderplums @OneManStand Outworld broke up but he has a new band called Day of Reckoning. They're on myspace at /dayofreckoningmetal
