I just suddenly figured out why I hate this guy so much. He said the same shit about Rage in every single interview he douse. He makes it seam so predictable!!!
@MrHappyAce really now? some of the highest rated rpg's, including but not limited to, dragon age 1&2, demon's souls, borderlands and mass effect are all under 15 hours, and unlike virtually every RPG ever created, RAGE has 2 multiplayer modes, and assuming you enjoy the game one of them is bound to last you at least 10 hours, and if you're a fan of the racing aspect of the game, the other should be the same. so 40 hours as apposed to the standard 10 for most RPGs, pretty fucking impressive.
@ledZeppelin7680 yes but in the olden days rpgs were 30 hrs or longer but he did say "You'll be pushing 20 hrs." so what i'm saying is that i'm not quite used to a shorter rpg but it doesn't mean i can't enjoy it.
@MrHappyAce ...its a first person shooter developed by the guys who made the genre popular. With this game they wanted to add different aspects to it to make it more interesting. If you watch more dev videos, they talk about how it is not a full on rpg.
When I was 8 years old, I was molested by a pack of viscous wolves. Then they accepted me as one of their own. Now I run through open grass fields, butt naked, with the wind flapping beneath my balls.
This is the calm mother fucker type of guy I want developing my games not some evil mad scumbags cackling like witches as they drain the money from the helpless consumer's wallets. I'm looking at you DICE/EA and Activision.
@Pastafarealist yeah, free DLC, that's an effective way to ''drain money from the helpless consumer''. do you also walk into convenience stores and start ranting that the candy should be free and all businesses should be charities?
@ledZeppelin7680 By helpless I of course refer to people that are pulled in by the aggressive marketing strategies and mass appeal certain AAA titles such as the MW and BF series build themselves around, they simply don't get a chance to even realize what they're buying before they make the purchase. By no means am I saying the BF or MW series is bad, just too mainstream for non-casual gamers, but certainly anyone can have almost guaranteed satisfaction with either of those series its the point.
@Pastafarealist meh, this "cam motherfucker type" said that the likes what blizzard is doing with diablo 3 an he wants to make his game to force you to be online to play them. Not to mention that rage takes out levels from the game if you buy it used.
@au25 Yes, if you buy the game used it will take out sewers which many players won't even notice since the average player would never go down there and it's essentially 'fluff' which most used gamers don't care about, if they did, they'd show support for the developers, not to mention the game is best played on PC where it will be cheap on digital distribution outlets, but even if they get half the money per digital sale, at least it goes in the developer's pockets, not the retail stores.
@au25 As for supporting always online DRM, there's nothing wrong with it if it is implemented correctly. Diablo III will be an online experience for the majority of the players, and considering more than 99% of the fanbase play online(Starcraft 2 and WoW players are online whenever they play) it's a justified move. And saying id has gone greedy is a rediculous assertion, like I said, they remove small "side fluff" type areas that most new copy users will not notice.
@au25 Besides which, people that buy copies of games used, especially from companies that do not sell out to big publishers like EA and Activision(I'm looking at you DICE, Treyarch/IW/Sledgehammer/Ravensoft, and Volition, Inc.) really aren't doing the gaming industry any favor. Games developed under Activision, THQ, EA, etc. already break even just from pre-orders, buying games used from solo developers like id puts $0 in their pockets, and thus more creative game series die, good right?
@au25 Like I already said, PC is the lead platform for RAGE and you can't buy games used on PC, but I assume you're talking from a console perspective, although it's like buying FO3/NV on consoles, you don't have all the modding options, visual fidelity, and precision of controls. Suppose you buy 20 million used copies of a game, this does not benefit the developers even a little bit, they get absolutely $0 from that, and solo developers like id don't have the resources to take such losses.
@Pastafarealist LOL they said it "rage is console focused" so NO its not the lead platfomr those graphics look like shit by pc standards. Both those games you pointed were CLEARLY console focused the modding made them pc worthy but mods aint the game and i doubt rage will be as moddable or famous with models.
Devs are greedy drm on pc is understanble but on consoles? REALLY id? REALLY?
I actually like the idea that RAGE will not be a totaly open world. cause the more open the world is the harder it gets to tell a really awesome story. it's harder to create really awesome moments. BUT that mig be becaus Metro 2033 have spoild me. cause that game had the most well-done hand-crafted awesome moments in a rail-shoter that you cant get in an open world game. (now someone will get angry)
