  • Thank you very much for finding a way to explain it so simply. I've been bashing my head at this for a bit, and finally you brought it together for me. Kudos sir!

  • I thought I 'll find here some different thing but actually it's a major scale..

  • Thank you so much! i've been looking for a lesson like this for a long, long time... thank god i've found you!

  • to all of you who know the minor scale better, you can use that scale when you play major as well.

You just take the minor scale of the key and move it three frets down.

So if you play solo in E major for example, you can play the minor scale of C#.

    great video though :)

  • thanks andrew, this is just what i needed.

  • hyvä treeni !!!

  • Thanks dude, but sometimes i trip up over your words "Now Lets try the E minor 6th major 7th dimished 12th sustained B sharp evaluated half step monotone vibrato staccato harmonic 8th pentatonic 4th" ...... o_O

  • tone tone semi tone tone tone tone semi tone

  • i think dimebag used those pickups

  • This very Mark Knopflerly :D

  • excellent lesson thankyou

  • good job, very helpful

  • i love the intro improve, but i noticed you don't stay in the same area as where the Ionian mode is played, is it just an octave higher or what?

  • @TasteForDisaster any scale or mode can be played on many places on the fret board.

  • go bro

    your awsome

  • can you do any vdeo on effect and pedals

  • intro was some metallica solo???

  • @lkkjhg45 fade to black-ish

  • thanks this is very helpful to me know if i can just my fingers and hand to do it lol thanks my friend

  • what pickups are thoses

  • @Wasiferous wtf is wrong with you whiny bitch this actually hepled a lot and if it didnt help u i dont know what the fuck are u searching

  • great job.

  • really nice improv at the start, good lesson too

  • imgetting it

  • iim sry

  • i've never had a guitar lesson, i taught myself all this stuff, its' gna take me some time to learn the modes over the WHOLE fretboard though...

  • A very thorough explanation of the major scale and its intervals.

I'm surprised by the comment at 8:37 - in fact plenty of other scale types have a whole step between the fourth and fifth tones. For example, natural, harmonic and melodic minor all do.

  • omg thank youuuuuuuuuu it all makes so much sense now

  • After watching this, one thing that i don't quite understand is how to start the major sale on a different scale. This helped a little with it but after google and youtube, i couldn't find anything on it starting on different strings/positions.

  • this is just what i needed. definatly helped. its good to get out of the blues pentatonics into something new.

  • Frankly i havent taken any classes and have been reading off the web only.I understand that this shld be pos 4 more likely to be based around the E shape Barre.. cagEd.. the 4th..

Could you also tell us about mixing the scale position so tha you can really play over all the fretboard without changing the Keys ;).. thanks a bunch

  • thnks...u make the theory so simple to understand

  • Thanks Andrew. Its really nice to have someone teaching who knows all the ins and outs. Most youtube teachers are decent players, but are lacking in knowledge.

  • thanks Andrew.

  • andrew rules!

  • what neck pickup it on that strat at the start?

  • The opening solo had a bit of a Mark Knopfler feel to it

  • Incredible Andrew, thank you very much.

  • ur a great teacher ... plz keep it up :) ...

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Thanks Andrew good lesson to strip down the scale /mode

  • great guy and always, AWESOME lesson :). thanks!
