  • And then die

  • That would fuck someone up

  • The hornady FTX(flex tip expansion) is probably the best. This water is not sufficient. A defense round often has to go thru layers of clothes. Those layers can stop the expansion from taking place. It is a proven fact. The tip in the hornady round with connectic energy being forced open never fails. And it is cheaper.

  • @truthtone58 I was wondering. Do they have armor piercing? Like sharpened rounds, not sure of thatd work or not.

  • expand like shit!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wouldnt use it for self defense

  • @VATOOUT Two words... shot placement

  • @weewaa101 I cannot say I follow NASCAR, but I have nothing against it. I have heard it is quite exciting live.

  • well i will still use my ranger t's :)

  • What the hell does shooting in water have to do with showing us how great the round is?

  • @BrandonSaldana Nothing at all. Draw your own conclusions.

  • @andreleger2001 Andre, do you have any video testing the winchester 38 super auto +P super X 125Gr?? there's not many videos around here with that round and i would like to see how it performs on all your test.

  • @Miwiz1 No I do not have any .38 Super videos. I do not know anyone with one but if I come across someone I will try to borrow it for testing.

  • @BrandonSaldana the body is almost 90 percent water so if a bullet will expand well in water the more likely the bullet will expand in an attacker in a home defense situation

  • @TheDylan1911 Okay I'll kinda give you that, plus if it hits bone then that will tear someone apart

  • @BrandonSaldana

Shooting at water is cheaper, and more available than finding actual people to shoot at. It isn't perfect, but it gives a rough idea of how a bullet will perform. Gel is best, but it's expensive to properly use and test with gel. Like andreleger2001 said, draw your own conclusions from these videos.

  • @BrandonSaldana Hmm, maybe to show how the round mushrooms without actually destroying the round? Just a thought.

  • @powerman2442 No kidding?? Really? Your sarcasm is eluding

  • @BrandonSaldana Yes... really. lol

  • @BrandonSaldana Shooting in water shows the optimal expansion of the bullet on impact. Water is a little harder on bullets than flesh, so while it does tend to over-emphasize expansion (not that the GS is anything but a high-quality, consistent bullet), core-jacket separation is also a little less likely in flesh than in pure water. But, in general, it can be used as a cheap analogue to expensive gel testing, providing useful data as long as its limitations are understood.

  • What's the Kool Aid test for, Jim Jones gets in the house? Eeeekkkkk!

  • my friend has a box of those im not even going to lie them hollow tips are heavy to be bullet

  • not bad, it seems that Golden Sabres have a tendency to separate the jacket and end up in two big chunks,

Personally I don't think it's a big deal. As more than likely the separation probably only happens within the last few inches of penetration, or at least that's what I've observed in the varmints I have shot with Golden Sabres

  • @bigboss686 lots of bullets lose their jacket in water because they hyper expand, they are designed to expand in tissue not a pool of water...they dont separate very much if they are shot into something that resembles tissue these tests are cool and fun to watch and everything but really tell you nothing except the bullet is capable of expanding in water..

  • @AnarchAngel1 actually that's not really the case so much anymore, HST is an excellent example of a non-bonded bullet holding on to its jacket. As far as Golden Saber is concerned, it pretty much does this in every medium. There's a fellow on YT that tests ammunition. but he uses gallon jugs filled with saturated newsprint, actually replicates gelatine quite well.

Even those tests, you'll find that Golden Sabres have poor performance

  • @bigboss686 Im not saying golden sabers are the best bullets they lose their jackets sometimes, any unbonded JHP that is what I call a "jacket based" (where the bullet is designed for the jacket to do the"wounding")like golden sabers, ranger t's are more likely to seperate than a design like the HST. If you look at an expanded HST you will see that it doesnt use its jacket to increase its expanded diameter, theres just not as much stress exerted on the jacket during the expansion process

  • WOW I carry GS and I would have loved to see a better review. All of your evaluations are awesome but this one is lacking. Sorry.

5 stars for the effort though... What do you suggest for 9mm. I'm looking into Ranger SXT or T

  • Yeah sorry about that - i believe we were just about to go inside to eat lunch and nobody was thinking straight. We also did this same set of tests with PowRBall in 9mm and I apparently forgot to do the results. Not posting that one. I figured one missing section on this is not all lost. But forgetting the results... Again, sorry. I recommend Ranger-T's or HST's.

  • We also had sections where the cameraman unknowingly put the camera on 'compact' mode and made useless video with hardly any resolution. I cannot use any of that footage either. We just had a bad day this time. Still, we did get some good stuff.

  • Maybe I'll start a collection for onsite catering...lol

I know many people (like me) use your vids to gauge ammo quality. With the prices so high you are a great resource. I buy ammo based on ppls recommendations and see how my firearms "digest and regurgitate" them. I will be getting some Ranger T soon... if I can find it...

  • ombexpress and tds-us

  • thanks!!!
