  • he was part of the best welsh rock group that we ever had.

  • does anyone know more about that girl Jo that he supposedly liked ?

  • I truly love him.....

  • In life or death.. i wish for love, happiness, peace and tranquility to be restored into his eyes, mind and life...He is the most beautiful person, both internally and externally. I hope Nirvana was met wherever he is right now.

  • Such an adorable, intelligent and wonderful person... I don't want to believe that he's not in this world anymore. It drives me insane, that we'll probably never know what really happened.

  • I've never met him, and i was a little child when he vanished, but i feel like i miss him. I really empathise with him, i'm also kind of lost artist, i have depression, i'm interested in philosophy and poetry. Hes like me, or rather im like him, i know the pain of being misunderstood and isolated. It's not easy. And really, on that place im not suprised that he disappeared, but i hope that as he said, he handled all that pain experienced and didn's commit the suicide.

  • Is scary to see him this thin because then you have to think what state he must of been in when he was in hospital. Richey whereever you are I hope you happy and living a peaceful life

  • ♥ ЯICHEY YЯ MY STAЯ MY LONG LOST BIG BЯOTHEЯ. I LOVE YOU. ♥

  • I am just glad that he did what he wanted to do, if he commited suicide or just disappeared then that was his decision, sad for his family of course, but he was an intelligent person, he knew the consequences of whatever decision he made, it was/is his life and he has the right to do whatever he wants with it, we will probably never know what he did,

  • @Tommo6300 what if something bad happened to him ?

  • i miss him too. its so easy to idolize people who've died, yknow? he can never grow old, bald, sell out, do a toyota commercial or write a song as awful as 'its not war, its the end of love' hes perfect as an abstract fictional hero.

um, anyway. i dont think he liked the red hair, lol, he shaved it all off immediately after.

  • How can I miss u so muchh..?

  • Poor Richey looks and sounds like a man who felt too much.

  • It is the year 2010 and we draw closer to an historicist conflict bewteen North and South Korea. Already we have had several dictators overthrown. Yet the mechanisms do not change. The west still comes out with its democracy banners and keeps its own citizens in deranged boredom. Its not freedom it is the ever increasing noose of capitalism tightening around the necks of its subordinates.

  • For one so young so be so intelligent and ahead of his time is something. Religion is a terrible thing, psychology should be taught instead, then people would understand how beliefs are formed & why religion works, more importantly why people are different which should promote acceptance of difference.. For common sense thinking like Richey read some Richard Dawkins and New Humanist.

  • A very intelligent, eloquent man :)

  • idiot

  • He's perfect....He really is.

  • @monicayuro you'll find it here thisisyesterday. com

  • @monicayuro @monicayuro

    it's on thisisyesterday. com

  • 2:41 slightly too what?

  • naive

  • right thanks

  • What about the accents? O_o I'm Spanish and the only reason I don't understand completely what he's saying is that the sound is absolute crap.

I'm on the first year of Translation (mainly English, also German) and I can understand English, American and Scottish people perfectly. And I do understand this guy on other interviews.

  • I'm pretty sure that if Richey were still alive, the Manics DO know it, but they would never tell it to anyone so he would not get into the whole situation again.

  • @depechemode1992

Exactly. Can't help the idea of him being around. The band seems to be too OK with that. But well, who knows. But you're sharing the same theory. Richey was/is clever enough to arrange such thing. In 90's disappearing wasn't that difficult thing to arrange with some brainwork

  • @depechemode1992 I saw an interview where Nicky said that Richey never experienced and saw cellphones and computers... something like that. So I'm not sure what to think,..

  • I love the accent, and i understand it better than Scots or Irish....i hope u found some peace of mind wherever u r big brown eyes Richey!!

  • Richey was Welsh?

  • Is that why I can't understand a word he is saying?

  • Where are you from? I'm American but I can understand Welsh people perfectly, but that's cause I spent 6 years in England as a kid...lots of my fellow Americans though say that Welsh people are indecipherable.

  • I'm American. Yes, his accent is so thick. I think even an English accent would be a little easier to understand.

  • Tell them the country that gave us Tom Jones and Bonnie Tyler, and also where Lemmy (who is English) grew up.

  • We all love Richey and respect him as an artist. There's no denying that he was a brilliant writer, but the man is dead. I mean if he was alive he would definitely have contacted his family as well as the guys from the band.

  • Stop giving this guy thumbs down. If Richey didn't commit suicide back in 1995, then he's most likely died in the 14 years that have passed. Richey was a man of vices after all: drugs, alcohol, and self-mutilation.

  • Richey never did drugs. Or at least if he did them once or twice, never to excess. It wasn't one of his vices.

  • And you know this how?

  • Him and the rest of the band had/have frequently said the same in interviews over the years, and that's all anyone can ever go by, right?

  • @backinburntcity

Well, I'm sure there are other people who have plenty of first hand accounts with Richey. Anyway, I'm not trying to argue that he was a habitual drug user.

  • 'I'm sure there are other people who have plenty of first hand accounts with Richey'

I'm sure too, but if Richey and the band were completely open about his alchoholism and self-mutilation I don't know why he wouldn't have been open about his drug history as well.

'Anyway, I'm not trying to argue that he was a habitual drug user.'

Well good, 'cause most of the evidence that's available points to the conclusion that he was not, lol.

  • @backinburntcity

I just don't think anyone besides Richey and those close to him can or should really make claims about what he did or didn't do.

  • Fair enough, I just don't want anyone slandering the poor guy! It's a pet peeve, 'cause I've heard so many non-Manics fans say he did 'em just because they assume.

  • @backinburntcity i know your comment was over 8months ago so this is probably irrelevant, however, Richey says so himself he was a drug user. Have you heard about a radio interview he did where he mentions it?

oh, And, in an interview with the rest of the band around EMG, Nicky actually says something, in passing I guess, about fans emulating Richey by (all the obvious things) and drugs.

    x

  • @TorysApollo Oh, and what radio interview is this? What does he say, that he does drugs a lot, or that he's tried them? Because, as I was saying to bobbseytwins, as I understand from all that I've read&heard, he's probably tried many, but he was not a habitual user. Alcohol was his problem, he used to drink like more than a bottle of vodka a day.

Again, show me the full Nicky quote, because I think I've read that too but it was worded in a confusing/ambiguous way?

  • @backinburntcity I'm not sure what radio station it was, but I'll find it. (Yes, I do have nothing better to do than this, haha :] )

and Nicky says it on the "Manic street preachers at Maine Road"

But, obviously only the manics know what really went on with drug use etc.

  • @TorysApollo I'll answer you in your message, ha. :)

  • @madmethod21

And how are you so sure he would have contacted them?

  • oh my bad i thought they were from mid feb. sorry my mistake.

im sure theres something after this though, a magazine article or something where he'd shaved his head.

  • I was dead, now I'm alive, now I'm free.

  • this is his last REAL interview i think theres a snippet from the Mtv brat awards with the manics which is the real last footage ever.

he was also interviewed for a magazine about a week before he disspeared with a bald head

  • ... the Brat awards were from Jan. 1994. how is that considered last real footage of him?

  • he is gorgeous.

i hope he's happy wherever he went.

  • @dontwnturhndthistime I wish I could have gone with him.

  • @dontwnturhndthistime he's dead

  • Sad to see him looking so exhausted and just fucked up.

  • Thank you thank you thank you!!!

  • pardon?

  • No. He is alive, i'm sure. Such people don't die...

  • And neither is Elvis??

  • His bank account has never been touched and he has never been found

  • whoa nice hair.

  • haha, that made me chuckle thankyou

  • THANK YOU.

i have been searching for this!Ive literally scoured the internet!

  • OH..MY...GOD!!! THAK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS! I've been looking for this for months!

    GOD BLESS YOU!

  • Somewhere toward the end of '94 I'd guess. The man was a genius and I can't wait for the new manics album with his words on.

  • not sure, but i would also like to know...

  • It's good to see this last TV interview with Richey back on Youtube.

Does anyone know the date of when this interview took place?
