that is incorrect. brown bears and grizzlys are different species, this is a grizzly (notice the blondish tips on the fur, the "grizzled look"). bears kill very fast, relying on strength. if that were an african lion, the buffalo would've killed it and saved the calf.

I always thought bears were disgusting also, until I discovered precious polar bear cub Knut of the Berlin Zoo. I have since become an avid bear fan. They generally are merciful when they hunt & often kill their prey instantly. If they had access to grocery stores, they surely would prefer to shop than hunt. also weight is not everything, the tiger kills much larger prey than itself, a grizzly only targets ungulate young mostly, a siberian tiger can take down a fully grown reindeer and even kills brown and black bears in its home range

a full size male bear would destroy a bison...that bear that just killed the calf was a small female..a male bear can grow up to half a ton and stand over 3 metres tall...a full size male bear would only have to swipe the bison once and it would be game over!!!

that is incorrect. brown bears and grizzlys are different species, this is a grizzly (notice the blondish tips on the fur, the "grizzled look"). bears kill very fast, relying on strength. if that were an african lion, the buffalo would've killed it and saved the calf.

...? Bear are omnivores, they mainly eat berries roots vegetables etc, but they also hunt for prey. Short faced bears (extinct, twice the size of modern bears) probably fed of huge Sloths which were much bigger then this bison.

I love how people here hate the bear for eating the bison calf. They are predators and they have to eat. The same people will be cramming a burger down their throat tomorrow for lunch. FYI, go check out some slaughterhouse videos on here and tell me that the bear is worse than us. The bear kills fast and once it locks onto a prey animals throat, its over in seconds. Nature isnt always beautiful. Realize that.

Put elephant on to North Pole, it will quickly get killed by polar bear (I have been there on russian nuclear icebreaker YAMAL and I tell you what, you can't see shit there, and to make it worse, bear is white as snow).
Put polar bear in to Africa, it will quickly get killed by elephant or rhino.
It is all about hte habitat in animal fights.
Polar bear kills walrus without problem on land, in water, however, the reverse happens.

Elephant or rhino on flat ground of course could kill a bear, but in forest, who knows what could happen, bear can certainly dish out lethal damage to any land animal, I mean if it can break bull's back, it can certainly tear a huge hole in any animal's side with a swipe, plus 9 inch claws. Elephant has 2 inch thick skin at thickest points, and very thin on abdomen.
Anyway, this is a matter of speculation, Kodiak bears are huge, but in Africa, bears would not be that big, because it is hot.

I always thought bears were disgusting also, until I discovered precious polar bear cub Knut of the Berlin Zoo. I have since become an avid bear fan. They generally are merciful when they hunt & often kill their prey instantly. If they had access to grocery stores, they surely would prefer to shop than hunt. Bart the beloved Kodiak grizzly bear is a perfect example of how loving and loyal they can be to their human "parents" when bottle raised as orphaned cubs. Check him out on YOUTUBE etc.

I agree the bears aren't concerned about mercy but the fact that they do quickly kill their prey is merciful. I do gather from bear videos that they seem to prefer playing more than hunting as hunting is so frustrating for them especially now with climate changes and in my fantasy of a perfect world, I would like to see them protected and provided for rather than ostracized, hunted, and trapped. I have read that they are as intelligent as the great apes and emotionally complex.I love bears.

I can never understand how you can just sit by and film this kind of garbage. I know it is necessary for us to see how nature works, but I just cannot do it. If I ever witness such an attack, I am shooting at the predator to scare them off, and if that does not work, the Predator is getting killed. I know it is nature, but I figure if I am there to make a difference, then so be it, it is someones luck day. Folks forget that we are part of nature as well.

Big bear can also break bison's back with a single swat, I don't think buffalo one on one stand mucu chance.
Bears have been known to break bison's neck by twisting it's head. I can give references to articles if you like.
