@norfolkdash9 No, if your rear wheel would spin (aka. when stuck in snow), both tires will spin with a posi, but on a normal differential, only one would spin
@norfolkdash9 yea posi's get more common as the package goes up, like some 250's or 2500's have it and normally if its in 35 and up they go for posi because its better for towing and work
@norfolkdash9 yea your rear end lasts a lot longer because when you turn one tire has to travel faster than the other, and if it posi the the tire gets worn out very quick and easy and it puts alot of stress on the rear end, if you only use it on the road then a limited slip is what you want, if you offroad then you want posi
Good buy my friend. Ford makes some of the better trucks on the planet regardless of what others have to say. I have a 91 f150 302 4x4 as well. Fine running trucks.
I bought a '91 F150 Custom a year and a half ago- single cab, with your same engine and tranny. It's not my daily driver and I haven't done anything to it, even an oil change. Just drove it almost 400 miles today to San Francisco and back. It ran perfect- 75 all the way and didn't skip a beat. Cruise control would be nice, but...
dude nice truck. everyone goes crazy for all the new 2010 trucks and cars but im a old type of person even though im 19 i love old trucks.
i took my dad 97 f150 since he was going to get rid of it and when you hop in let the windows down because there is no A/C..lol get the natural air..haha
nice truck again though very nice. i love fixing on old trucks
i just bought a 91 f150 4x4 today and im trying to find out how to switch to 4x4low ect. ide like to know how to do it right before i attempt doing it my self cause knowing my luck ide probably break something. so please message me for tips! thanks!
Teacher traded it in, it got transferred to a dealership that sells cheap vehicles. Some guy bought it from them, I drove past a house one day and saw this thing sitting there and knew it was it. I stopped in and he said he was actually getting ready to put it up for sale.
950 bucks is a good price but my dad's getting a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab Long Box 2wd with the 4.3 V6 for just 1200 bucks. Good deal, needs a bit of work though.
i can guarantee that yer gonna LOVE that engine and tranny. me & my dad had a '77 F-150 300 6 INLINE with a 4LL. it pulled better than our 350 in our Suburban. that truck was amazing.
Does the 4x4 work? You got a great deal man. The 5 spd/300 is a good combo. It *should* move like a bat out of hadies when you need it to. Nice truck!
Ya, most ext cabs would be an auto with at least a 302 and would usually be the top of the line XLT Lariat trim package. This is a pretty rare combo, and It's exactly what I wanted. Would be REALLY rare if it was a 3/4 ton.
What is POSI?

Very nice truck, for 950 bucks you did pretty good. Check out mine, it ain't on the road, has a story behind it. Check it. It's nice.
Dshaws90fordf150 2 years ago
Cool. That 300 will last quite a while, the mazda tranny is another story- mine went at 158K
73GMC1500 2 years ago
Yea those straight six's, hell of an engine. The Mazda transmission is great too. Like to squeeze 600,000 out of that engine....
Dshaws90fordf150 2 years ago
Did you buy it off your teacher, or were they the 2nd owner and you're like the 4th, as an example. (If you know what I mean)

I think you can tell what happened after that :)

you like it better then the 88?
bamjes103 2 years ago
Yes, The extended cab is nice and this one has more rust but the paint still looks decent. And the interior is a lot nicer than that 88.

Damn man, that truck is nice. Love 5 speed and a little restoration would make it bad ass. XL model right?

Yep. XL, with NO options, lol.
The cab floor is going, fast. I hope this cab can be saved.

No, $950
73GMC1500 3 years ago
how many trucks do you have
scottyaaron21 3 years ago
Yes. It doesn't have the get-up-and-go that my '88 had, but that had 3.55 gears ans this has 3.08s and is in need of a tuneup.

4x4 5 speed diesel 390000 miles on it and runs like new the body's gone though, GOTTA LOVE YOUR FORD

Wow, a standard transmission, extended-cab with the 300 six? That's an unusual combo... right? Or have I just not seen many?
I've got a '94 regular cab shortbed with the 300. Great motor, so very underrated. One of the most durable/reliable truck motors ever built.
Good find!
