@Lockbar No kidding!! I'm TOTALLY surprised thar the people in this video (except the pilot & copilot) were not COMPLETELY stone deaf by the end of the flight!!! I didn't see anyone wearing earplugs!!!' and there was NO soundproofing material whatsoever in a tri-motor!!! OUCH!!! PAINFULLY DEAFENING for me!!!
@ford9572 When I was 8 years old my dad who was a pilot took me the EAA convention when they were in Rockford Illinois, back in 1962 or '63. We took a ride in a tri-motor, probably this same one. The biggest part of the ride I can remember was the NOISE! It was super loud.
the one i rode in had the original bench seats -room for double the passengers of this version , with about a 12" wide aisle down the middle - room to sidle sideways down the aisle
Really nice video!! My dad and I took a ride on the Ford Tri-Motor during this stopover. My first flight was in 1959 in a 1947 Aeronca 7AC Champ. I was seven years old. Dad was the pilot. Anyway,on the way out to the airport for the Tri-Motor ride, Dad said "This looks like a real good day for flying." We had a great time! It was Dad's last flight. He passed away November 6,2007. Thank you for the memories EAA and rcavi8tor! (One correction, the airport is in Lee's Summit, Missouri, not Kansas).
I flew in the Tri-Motor from Lee's Summit also!! It was awesome! I'm Matt in Roeland Park, KS and I responded to this with my Ford Tri-Motor video (including some sim footage).
There was a Ford Trimotor that flew for Island Airlines, from Port Clinton OH, literally island hopping, to Put in Bay on South Bass Island in Lake Erie up until the early 70's I think. It was later flown somewhere in the deep south to be renovated/restored, and it never returned.
thank you for this video. Glory.

c'est spartiate dedans, mais pour 1929, il devait être très moderne ! principale concurrent du boeing 247 et du douglas dc1(qui est venu après )

@Lockbar And I cannot imagine a B-17 Flying Fortress being much quieter than a tri-motor either!!! Despite being quite a few years newer.

I wonder if the roar of those radial engines was too deafening for that little boy's ears or not.
