  • Goodluck getting a $10,000 discount on a new one, or a motor at their cost including labor and best of all trying to get an 11 year old car with 100,000 miles covered under warranty lmaooo Hondas are great but The american honda motor company isnt stupid lol

  • I know someone that did what this guy did and got several oilchanges at jiffy lubes and siezed his engine within minutes cause they used cheaper generic filters instead of the original and honda will not cover that of course cause its not their oem parts or technicians either. You have a 100,000 miles on your car and its 11 years old cmon man lol no manufacturer in their right mind will warranty that lol I work for honda and own a 2006 s2k and i know seizing a honda is rare and difficult

  • OMG if he say tell tail lights again im going to lose it lol for your information Any extended warranty on any honda or acura starts from the original date that it was sold new. This applys to most manufacturers not just honda. If you wouldve read you warranty before you paid for it you wouldve known. I know this cause ive been working with honda for the past 7 years and i also own a 2006 s2k. You can take a civic/accord to a jiffy lube or joe smoe mechanic but not an s2k.

  • Thats why i stopped purchasing Hondas in my family. We bought Mercedes.

  • Equalizer501's is good.

  • Lastly, and it is unfortunate, but because the times we live in that you cannot be given grace. It is much like why I pay a premium for my insurance just because I am a 24 yr old male even though I have a clean driving record, drive a 92 protege, Im married, and own a house... IF there is not an ounce of deception from you then your one of the good ones (im not judging either way) but its unfourtunate there is a vast majority that would add oil because it was empty and demand a motor.

  • I feel for your situation, but I work for a dealer (not honda) and I respect their position. First of all you were out of your warranty period, reguardless of a miscommunication or misunderstanding reguarding your warranty, YOU signed the document, if YOU didnt read it quit blaming others. There is no "your motor is about to seize" light so quit talking about that.

  • the people that commented about calling AMERICA HONDA its the best advice I had a 99 accord and the alternator blew out while i was drivng on the freeway without the check engine light coming on my warranty ran out by like less than 1000 miles and the dealer said they wont fix it but when I called AMERCIA HONDA they replaced my alternator for free. Hondas last along time dont get me wrong but most customer service at dealers suck and I think hyundais make better cars than hondas now

  • S2000'S require 10w30 synthetic motor oil changed every 3750 miles in severe conditions. If the oil you use is too thin, then the oil will not act as a cusion between the engine bearings. If the oil is too thick, then it will not fit between the bearings. Guess what, the "tell-tale" light will not indicate if there is oil pressure, which if there is oil, then it won't set the light. If you work for the company that make these gauges, then where did you learn the term; "telltale light"?

  • I change my oil every 3k miles, even if it exceeds 3 months and my dipstick is WWAAYY cleaner then his...

  • Honestly! For an engine to seize up like that you must have missed several oil changes. HONESTLY how many oil changes have you done in 99,000 miles. You should have at least done 30 if my math is right. Thats what happens when you extend your oil changes, sludge. Your light did not turn on because the oil pressure switch is full of sludge. Its stuck. Dont blame HONDA its your fault.

  • Dude he showed you some of the paper work with oil changes for the first 30k miles....

  • that's right my friend. probably this guy abused his car keep on running without checking the engine oil.

  • its too bad that honda is ending their line of s2000's this year because its the only honda I care about

  • Well as far as I know it's either 100,000 mileage or 6 years warranty, which ever comes first so his warranty has obviously run out because the car has gone past 6 yrs. I dont think Honda really need to do anything about it unfortunately.

  • I am wondering if some valve train or other internal engine component broke and jammed inside the engine

  • Honda sucks.

  • oh come on i love honda ever i have one and it runs great am sorry that engine size i hope get it fix

  • 1) he cant even open the hood at first. 2) he reaches for the black wire conduit when he was trying to grab the hood prop. 3) he cant even pull the oil dipstick out without almost breaking it. 4) the guy cant even put the dipstick back without bending it very far im suprised it didnt snap, s2k's dipsticks are not meant to bend they are pretty thick. its obvious this guy has probably abused this s2k. give it to someone who will actually take care of it. its a honda, simply built, easy to maintain

  • @attatche211 Easy to maintain? You OBVIOUSLY have never done a timing belt in a honda.

  • @lovemym16 you OBVIOUSLY have not done too many timing belts. try a subaru/boxer engine timing belt and let me know how it goes. i just got done with one. never again. you must expect a timing belt to be as easy as field stripping an m16?

  • @lovemym16 most, if not all, recent honda engines today have timing chains anyway, guarenteed for the life of the engine. including the s2k engine in question in this video.

  • Honda never work . They are just overrated piles of crap that will never work evne if you do everything right. They really do suck . The New Civic has more problems and faults than almost every Chevy or Toyota , Mazda, BMW on the road today .

  • Huh? The president of GM just admited that Chevrolet's SUCK ASS. "While we're still the US sales leader, we acknowledge we have disappointed you. At times we violated your trust by letting our quality fall below industry standards and our designs become lackluster."

  • ...boring designs, and suck ass quality. Your GURU is telling YOU that you bought a piece o' crap and it looks like crap too!

If the guru isn't to be believed than read any consumer report out there incl Car & Driver & Consumer Report Magazine. Honda is a tank and it'll last 20 years minimally.

  • @fontheking5

DId you just say "honda never work"

what are you 12? the are the highest rated car for service. i know this for a fact and from 20 years of car buying experience.

VW ect are usually on the bottom of the list

  • this sucks, when i called them about my trany in 02 accord they finaly covered it ($3500) i just had to pay labor. i think you should keep calling them couse its bs what they doing

  • Its common practice that warranty starts from the day the vehicle is built. In England they have changed the law with servicing. You can now service your vehicle not in a dealer ship and still be covered by the Warranty provided that the parts meet Honda's specification. Dealers will never till you this thou. (Bad for business)

  • Never buy a Honda . This is the reason.

  • Honda sucks. Both the cars and the Dealers .

  • I agree, first off why would you let somebody at another oil change shop besided Honda change the oil. It probabally was not the right oil. Second, you had the six year warranty and why did you not bring it back to a Honda dealer and bring it to another shop who is not authorized. Lastly, most all japanese cars will not break down on you like that if you care for it. Quote I go by "if you treat your car right it will treat you right." I have never seen a S2k have many problems at all.

  • My 1993 civic got almost 200000klm and no problems.. If you treat and honda engine well you´ve got a car for life!

I´xe never heard anyone complaining about an S2K before..

And K and F20c series you must always check your oil!!! not like the B16 or B18

  • causes for engine lockup with no teltale light

that low oil light only comes on for extreamly low oil pressure or oil lvl about 1-2 quarts many problem can occur even with proper lubrication such as a broken timing chain-belt lack of oil to head broken cam-crankshaft etc many internal problems can occur and the cars ecu wont know the problem so no light will come on sorry if that wanst any help if you are still looking for an engine check with your local "tuner" shop for a jdm f20c for $5-7k

  • any theories as to why it siezed, with no warning lights

  • The reason you are getting nowhere is because you take so long to explain a simple matter this could be done in a couple of minutes not the nine minutes you took repeating yourself, don't fanny about, and they see your a soft touch, tell them to sort the problem or you will take them to court if they are not fullfilling their part of the bargain.

Keep it simple or you will just bore people.

  • @deanbed

I'm a auto tech & can tell you that if your warranty is up,they should not have to cover ANYTHING.But if they do anything(discount on labor or part prices) thats up to them.Sometimes they'll help but are not obligated.

  • If you call american honda there number is 1-800-999-1009. save all your information call them and create another incident number. tell them you are a loyal honda and acura owner and you had a warranty and the dealership is not honoring it. they will find you someone that will help. i have a 98 honda accord and they are going to try and help as much as possible with a cat converter that is faulty on mine.

  • you need to call american honda directly. you will not get ANYWHERE with dealerships.

  • That blows man, so hey have you getten that taken care of? or is the s2000 still sitting there? if you still have it and the engine is siezed, how much would you want for the car since honda won't fix it?

  • i can't believe they won't offer you any type of help. that says a lot about their customer service and what you, as a customer, do or do not mean to them. that is not the type of company i want to spend money with or do business with. i will be in the market for 2, maybe 3 new cars this year and was considering a few hondas. i can say for sure that i am crossing those vehicles off my lists! step up and do the right thing, honda!!!

  • This engine is amonge one of the finest naturally asperated engines ever built. Were there any symptoms of the engine being down on power or any other problems before the breakdown. I like you drive a Honda (Civivc Type r) In the UK and I know how these engines can have a thirst for oil. If you read the hand book it will probably read that u must check the oil every thime you fill the car up with pretrol.

  • You wuz robbed!
