  • @neilcaff I work for BA and believe me I know a good deal about this dispute and it's background. BASSA and CC89 have refused point blank to negotiate in any reasonable way over the last 20 years! All other groups within the company have done their bit. It's not surprising things have come to a head. There would have been no need for Mixed Fleet if BASSA had been more reasonable.

  • And BA are still very much in business, I don't imagine BASSA will achieve anything more by striking. I hope they can achieve something by negotiation!

  • @yachtno1 The point of the strikes was not to drive BA out of business. Despite the propaganda of the Daily Mail that was not the intent or the likely outcome of the strike. The aim of strikes, by and large, is a last resort by workers when faced with a management that refuses to negotiate meaningfully or compromise, to withdraw their labour in order to damage the profits of said employer, the only language they really understand.

  • I feel it's about time the socialists entered mainstream politics.

  • Sure did, rows and rows of planes parked up on the tarmac. BA spending millions everyday on 'wet leased' planes etc.

  • The strike went well...didn't it? :-)
