I like how he spits the first Pinot not because he was already going to anyway but because it was just THAT bad lol. You can hear a little extra oomph in his spit.
If you're looking for a great Pinot Noir, you should probably wait until you're at least at a $25 price point. That said, in the area of $10-$12, I've found the Romanians make some very good Pinot Noirs, comparable to Bourgogne wines of double the price. It's always going to be a bit of a hit-and-miss though...I've found even wine from the same vinyard can change drastically depending on the vintage.
I find Pinot Noir way too frustrating. And when you do find a decent one, I still prefer to drink something with a lot more body and colour. Wineries in the Niagara Peninsula seem to have staked their reputations on it, but most is way overpriced and has a thin, bland finish. I'd rather have an inky Baco any day.
No true California cheapies. I find that most 'entry level' Cali pinots tend to be so big & rich that it overwhelms the beauty & finesse that is pinot. A glass can be tasty but more than one can be too much. Almost like a super hot-weather, bomby zin-style.
Italy is spotty with pinot no matter what. Vin d'pays also but my first magical PN experience was a simple country wine..of course, made by Frederic Brochet makes a bit of difference ; ) Now THAT was freakin' ENCHANTING!
The BEST Pinot Noir I've had so far has been Hob Nob from France for $7.99 a bottle...It was very fruity and also spicey, with dark fruit and tea like nose...I would buy again...
Avoid Gallo Family Pinot Noir. It was dirt cheap and I could easily see why. It was if someone took an already inferior Pinot and heavily diluted with bad city water. It's almost pink in color and had no real body or kick to speak of; not from any fruit nor even the alcohol. If I wasn't an alcoholic, I would have pitched the stuff immediately.
Surprisingly, Berenger makes a totally decent Pinot Noir for about $5. I was pleasantly surprised by how fair it was. Not bad for the price.
god damnit...i just broke my monitor with a swift punch to the screen. I wish someone could rid this world of obnoxious. your reviewing wine not guest hosting "mad money" toolbag. I do appreciate the honesty though when a wine sucks it sucks. unfortunately i have not found a decent pinot for less than $15
Yeah. This BV Coastal Estates Pinot Noir... for me, PASS. Ok nose at best, no mid, weak finish. At least it's giving me a buzz. Pass on this though. Maybe cheap pinot isn't where it's at.
I got the same thing going on with my Pinot Noir. I have a bottle of Beaulieu Vineyard 06 Pinot Noir. Not bad. Eh. Anyways. It says on the back, "PRODUCT OF FRANCE, Blended and bottled by BV of Sonoma, CA. So, I get what you're saying. I got French grapes in a CA wine. I paid $10 for this bottle.

My favorite value Pinot Noir is LaVelle Vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Its not under $10/bottle, but it is around $15/bottle which is really inexpensive for a wine that could go for $30/bottle.
Yeah... I'm gonna take wine buying advice from a guy that says "for under 10 bones"

@blacklable1960 I've had that numerous times. It is a decent cheap Pinot. My favorite budget pinot is Mirassou pinot noir.

I tried the Cavit and was in love with the smell but then very disappointed with the taste.

Adore New Zealand Pinot Noir, a very strange grape indeed, some people call it "The Holey Grail of Red Wine".

Worst wine under $10? Unless blended, anything from Turning Leaf is terrible, nay undrinkable.
