All three cups are real at the beginning. Watch as each one passes through the middle position: they all lose their shadow/reflection as they do so, and regain it as they reach the outer positions - it's just down to the lighting.

They probably lit the scene like that on purpose so that they wouldn't have to worry about the shadow. It looks awkward, but it's not animated.

Actually that's not entirely true. You can't see the reflection when the cup is in the middle of the table but when it moves to the side you can see a reflection. Also when the ball is put under the cup you can see the cup's shadow for a split second.
