great game! i have one question why do players always raise up their hands when a team is serving the ball?i always see that in all volleyblall games (not only in Paralympics games) why?? is that necesary? a team can block a serve? i never saw that.... and i dont think thats the reason because even the serving team´s front players raise up their hands.....
I never heard of Paralympics before viewing these videos, but I do know that a serve CAN be blocked. That's why in regular volleyball, there are plays where the three front hitters are at the net in *service recieve* position. Some stand with both hands up, and some perch down to prepare to jump-block once the serve commences. It's been done --I've done it many times.
In Highschool or college volleyball you can not block a serve. The only reason you see them with their hand up at the net is for rotation purposes.

In regular college volleyball a serve can NOT be blocked or spiked. It's been a rule now for about 5-7 years
