  • He left his church because people came to see him, and not God. He became an idol to some people, and that is a problem. So, he left. There is nothing wrong with that.

  • @LifeByFilm Too bad Chan wasn't speaking something which would have put the focus on Christ and not himself.

  • @trident343lives Every single sermon he does he admits something he has done wrong. He makes me want to follow God like none other, not buy a book from Francis. He is always pointing to Christ. He is always pointing to the Holy Spirit. He is always pointing to God, and how great the creator is. -God bless you.

  • There is nothing ambivalent about Chan's faith, his teachings or his sample. His simplicity and humility move me every time I hear him. I am convicted by what he says, and more by what he does and how he lives. He doesn't attack, accuse or condemn others who do not do the things He feels that God is requiring of him. He doesn't speak condescendingly, as this guy does. He leads in love. Yes, as this guy says, Chan is one of a very small group. He is striving to go as deep as he can. Good for him.

  • @bec2viewthetube Guess you've never read anything from his book "Crazy Love". "As I see it, a lukewarm Christian is an oxymoron; there’s no such thing. To put it plainly, churchgoers who are “lukewarm” are not Christians. We will not see them in heaven.” (Crazy Love, Pg.83-84)

  • @trident343lives Hi. Yes, I've read "Crazy Love". It was great. But I readily admit that a statement like the above could cause confusion when taken out of the context of the full message of what Chan is teaching. As is the case with practically every Christian writer that I know, and the Bible itself (including many of Jesus' most powerful lessons), often times things must be looked at in the context of the complete message and lesson that the teacher is trying to get across.

  • @trident343lives: I do wonder about that. I remember reading that. All I have to say is that he is not God. So, let's come to God in prayer and following his leading by the Spirit he gave us.

  • @trident343lives Todd hits it on the head! Amen! Some men are giving 5 talents, some 2, some 1. The question is, what are we doing with what God has given us? God does not expect who He has given 1 talent too, to do the same things that He has given 5 too. To each man as given to them by God. There is liberty and rest in Christ.

  • @paulbunyan2435 "Some men are given"

  • Come on guys! Francis speaks at Christian Concerts and events where the majority of the people have grew up in Christian homes, Its totally appropriate for him to call them out and be more radical!!! But in his free online discipleship courses he focuses on loving God and loving your neighbors. In the course he mentions more mature radical christian actions, but they are not the focus. And your humor on him not returning your calls, aint cool especially under the light of Epesians 5:4.

  • @email2hector My fear is that Chan's actuall motivation is not a genuine willingness to serve God and love others, but that he fears he(as well as his former congregation) will go to hell if they don't work hard enough for Jesus. He basically admits that in his video "Lukewarm and Loving it" Which was a terrible and flawed understanding of Revelation 3.

  • @trident343live Francis trys to be very aware of his motivation even when its difficult. Out of love he is afraid for those in lukewarmness. In the full "Lukewarm..." clip he says american churchs are rich and lukewarm (all true), but should be "on fire for the Lord." No works, or specific work is mentioned, I dont see how that departs from scripture.

We should put Christ as priority & our first love always, because he is worthy of it. How thats expressed is up each one.

  • @trident343lives This message might not be for you if your not lukewarm. But its a good point to bring up and make sure we dont fall into. I think Francis is fearful out of love for those that are lukewarm. His intention is not to motivate people to earn their salvation or they will go to hell. Its more that people will love and rely more on their riches and strength than in God. God wants us to fully depend on him. You "MIGHT" need to check your own motives why u feel that.

  • @trident343lives One more reply because I think its import to clarify and distinguish... I can see your point. But I think that each person then need to search how their heart is towards the Lord. Francis is speaking to people who are lukewarm in the church, and is doing his best to let them see that. I can see if you aren't lukewarm this might look like legalism. But again he doesn't mention specific works, just "being on fire for the Lord." He speaks on grace too.

  • What is Radical? Come on guys!!!! Thats different for everyone, and changes for everyone as they grow in Christ. You guys cant define what is radical for other people, all you have done is described what is radical for yourselfs. Its radical for a baby to run 60 yrd dash in 7seconds, but for a profession who has trained since he was 10, its radical to run under 4 seconds. FC has discipleship programs and tells people to love God and people, and does not push for them to be missionaries.

  • Weak argument bro ur a hater... Did u really try to call FC or do you just assume he wont talk to you...You are very pesimystic... And u assume that everyone who calls himself a christian is a Christian! Leave ur comfort zone its the least u can do to be like Christ he left a throne for you to come to ur misrable world to show you how to live. Its obvious. He died so you could live. You could at least get off your butt and risk a little comfort by living in faith not in your way but his way!

  • I don't think his view is legalistic at all. I think he looks at the Bible and then compares it with the American church and sees a significant divide. Read Acts and see how the Christians lived. Acts 2:42-47 gives a great example of how followers of Jesus lived after they had received the Spirit. What Todd views as Francis being a radical is not radical at all. That is meant to be the norm!

  • @holyghostrider glad if he gives you than encouragement. I for one get the impression he thinks God will send him to hell if he doesn't become "Sold Out" enough to merit Salvation.

  • when i listen to francis chan im inspired to let go of anything that would hinder God from working through me to bring to pass his will. i agree with all that i've heard from chan so far. i believe the bible and appreciate someone else who does the same.
