I took over from the controller who allocated this engine (now sadly deceased, poor Dai) and he had something taken out of him rotten, poor devil. I think the other one was 248 or 280 from memory.
how i miss the sound of a tractor on the felixtowe line dragging boxes out of trimley thank god i live on the sizewell line choppers and tractors coming though one a week mmmm english eletric sound
Just think, if this were to happen now (hopefully not), the line would be shut in both directions, they probablly couldn't get hold of 2 Railway Breakdown Cranes, so they would have to hire a large mobile crane that takes half a day to build.
The Road would be cordened off, you'd have, BTP, Police, Fire Brigade, Network Rail (or what ever they call themselvs now).
The whole operation would probablly take 2- 3 days, then all the H&S Forms would have to be filled out.....
@Andi090386 How do you know they didn't close the road? There wasn't any traffic using it that I could see, and it might have been quite a good thing to have done with a loco unstable above it.
Network Rail is still called Network Rail as I'm sure you know.
Anyway, it's most unlikely that this will occur again, as the Langley Oil terminal has been closed for a good while, and is currently producing a fine crop of silver birch trees!
This is interesting, this same incident was featured on the "Locomaster Profiles Miscellany 3" video - which is now discontinued - you must have been standing really near the producer!
Excellent capture !

Great footage of a single-car DMU as well ( 09:00 ). We used to call them 'swingers'.

Excellent footage of what was a relatively rare event, it was bizarre to see over 100T of locomotive dangling in the air!
