Quilter is the composer, not"arranger,"it's his original music.
You kindly credit the singer,"arranger"(!),and the poet,but......
He who starts the song, ends it,provides all the harmony,tempo...and without whom there'd be only a naked single line with words.....Who plays the piano? He is excellent and should be credited.
One of my top 3 pieces from the Golden Age of E.S.
You can just feel the play shot through this, it's so wonderfully dramatic, I adore it, I adore Quiter HUGELY UNDERRATED and anyone who includes this in their recital or record collection (lol look at my age: "record collection" omg) I consider a friend; end of mini gush.
a beautiful set of this shakespeare text sung by one of the most beautiful british tenors. The voice perhaps is not rich and powerful like that of anthony rolfe johnson, but he has a deeper psychological penetration. I am italian and I sang this score and other shakespeare settings, by finzi and quilter and I think this music is as beautiful as underrated, especially out of Britain. It deserves a better diffusion.
@killazofjo In Mucho agreemento. Couldn't reply to postios about deep psychological penetration, sorry. I ADORE Bostridge's voice (II know many teachers sneer at him) and THIS is my favourite version of Come Away Death NOT THE FINZI. Ok??? Scorchio!..
@killazofjo You can't compare the two, both are very different and unique. The voice is truly an amazing instrument. For me Bostridge is like the butterfly you can't ever catch but he entices you in then flutters away, his voice floats on the air. I've seen him in concert twice now and know the English song book very well. Bryn I've only just discovered, or rather listened to recently. I'm still discovering his voice. But both voices have the same effect. They make your heart sing.
@killazofjo ha ha that's naughty, you must suspend all bias and feel the music in your heart. Both men are fantastic. Perhaps one is the main course and the other dessert. or how about, one is the summer sun and the other the autumn shade.
@killazofjo That's because I'm old, or older than yew! and think I should have probably been born a few generations before my actual time. I'm trapped here in 2011, unless I can hitch a ride in the time machine. You live in hope.

I wish I had more of a belcanto voice; mine's more booming, like, say, Bryn Terfel or Diitri Hvorostovsky. Go to my channel and check out my vids. I think all who watch or listen to them would enjoy them, in some way, shape, or form. Don't forget to rate and comment, but please no flaming. I'm an amateur, so things aren't gonna be perfect. Anyway, cheers!
Oh man, that was sooooo beautiful! My heart was fluttering in my chest and I sighed in awe of the beauty of his voice. WoW!! I mean WOW! for my heart to flutter that takes a lot.
Ah yes. Haven't heard this before ... I'd do anything in the world to meet or at least write him. Do you know of any way to contact Sir Bostridge? He's a source of inspiration to me.

oh ta very much, i never find people on youtube who can speak italian
Bostridge is good and stuff, but he doesn't hold a inferior-sized candle to the magnificene that is Bryn terfel
I, like him, sing baritone, and i hope to post some videos one day
but A-levels are soo hard

@geekygirl111 Are you looking these up online??
The sentiment is lovely, darling, but I'm afraid we are a proud people
Possibly too proud, but that never did any harm...
P.S. you should really become a poet or something, you speak in a way I wish many of us did
It's moving
