Fogerty rules. I play in a local band that plays gigs where we can, Sometimes you need a song that everyone will get up and dance to. I realized years ago, " You can't go wrong with CCR ". Now Fogerty has a song about that. I think it's called "You can't go wrong with CCR". Thanks.
People CCR or not, they still made great music together. And Stu and Doug fucked up by goin' against John. He did write the best music and had the best ideas to progress forward. But Stu and Doug wouldn't listen. John Fogarty is a much better song writer
Yep - John Fogerty is an American master & an original; Only he & his CCR bandmates know exactly what happened to break things up, but (using a baseball analogy)... you'd think if you had a pitcher on your team who was throwing a perfect game - don't start telling him how to throw!
@kevindlinc Yeah it would be awesome to sing like that but I dont think cutting off your left nut would help dude in fact it would probably make you sound more like Michael Jackson... not that that would be a bad thing.
Friends only remember that the songs are not only famous for the lyrics, also by music, examples Down on the corner have you ever seen the rain walking on the water, would not be so famous without creativity under Stu, or Cotton Fields, Proud Mary It came ou to the Sky ipresionante music made by Tom, do not remove credits but Creedence John is not only the vocals and lyrics by John Greetings
I can't believe the garbage below. Fogerty remade a visit to Manchester England after a 30 year gap. He sounded as raw and as fresh as he did the first time at the Free Trade Hall with the full band. Forget the rest - CCR was the voice of Fogerty and his writing and singing skills. The other dudes, as nice as they may be were just the back up band for John. You know in an instant when you hear that voice who it is. Oh yes, Status Quo should be shot for ripping off Rockin' All Over The World.
I love JF's music as much or more than anyone else. However, if we can only have the original person's versions of songs then I Put A Spell on You would never have been recorded by CCR. SQ did a fine job, not as good as JF but suitable. I do agree that CCR wouldn't have gotten a contract without JF, he was the group, his songs, his voice, his guitar.
80s disco hick? Seriously?! Tell me you're joking! John Fogerty is so far from disco! He's not a hick either. He's a funny, brave, and loving guy who has been more successful then you ever will.
Dave says "Get a drummer". That would be Doug "Cosmo" Clifford. WIthout Doug, John will NEVER have the ability to capture the original CCR sound. Revisited w/ Stu & Doug OWN the CCR sound. I seen Fogerty's bands and they don't compare in originality & CCR sound. Just bcause Fogerty was the singer of CCR, doesn't mean squat. Revisted band got a singer just as good if not sounding exactly the same & or better. David Letterman is a duchebag, and with Fogert, they r both legends in their own minds.
ya except fogerty wrote all the music and. CCR would have been nothing without him. and now this revisited bullshit comes out and they are using all of HIS music and have never payed him any royaltys.
Not true. FORGERTY DID NOT WRITE "ALL" THE MUSIC in CCR. In 1997Johh Fogerty got an injunction & forced 'CCRev' to change to 'Cosmo's Factory', but the courts later ruled in Cook's and Clifford's favor BECAUSE STU & COOK WERE CO-WRITERS OF CCR'S music. JOHN FOGERTY IS A TOTAL AHOLE, always has been, even to his brother. Do a history search on how John has been a pain in the ass to everybody he's involved with. An ego maniac. A WAY BETTER BAND than anything Fogerty has done = CC REVISITED!
You should do your homework, Stu and Doug never co-wrote any CCR material and Tom only co-wrote one. All the songs, except covers were written by John Fogerty, except Walking on the Water co-written with Tom. They only wrote songs for Mardi Gras and they were all terrible and none are being performed today. As for the lawsuit, the judge ruled Fogerty has no right to stop them from making a living; it has d nothing to do with who wrote the songs for he wrote all of them, except covers.
I know that. I'm just saying it's the players in the band that make ALL the difference. It's like the band Boston. Most songs were written by Tom Scholz. Once the ORIGINAL memebrs he fired were gone, the band never sounded the same. Foggerty will always have his voice but not the ORIGINAL CCR band sound without Stu & Doug. Just as they cannot find a PERFECT Foggerty impersonator. I like the music over the singing. Thus, Revisited IMO, still has the CCR sound & John's band(s) haven't. IMO.
I think the judge said Stu & Doug were co-creators in creating the Creedence sound, so he allowed them to use their name. As for Fogerty, I think he needs to bury the hachet with them and get over the past. He was pissed because Doug suggested to Saul Zaentz that Old Man Down the Road was similar to Run Through the Jungle resulting in him being sued for self copyright. Fogerty blamed Doug for planting the seed in Zaentz mind.
You are 100% correct about that. Maybe John assumed Doug suggested that to Saul. Or maybe Doug did. Still, there will never be any reunion with these guys regardless because Fogerty can make a ton of money on his own and pay his band members a LOT less than splitting anything with Stu & Doug. Shame the way things turned out. I'll still pay to see Revisited over Fogerty. Fogerty was way drunk on his "Centerfield" tour & I wasn't impressed with that band or any band Fogerty has had since CCR.
No kidding. Of course he was. The last Creedence album I bought ("Mardi Gras") was their worst because Stu Cook and Doug Clifford wrote some of the songs.
And Fogerty went through legal hell due to the flack he got from those guys.
@lonaticc Isn't it interesting that Stu and Doug are still riding on John's coattails after 3 decades apart. CCRevisited is just a cover band. John is the original.
Uh, Fogerty wrote pretty much all the hits, except for the covers. I saw him back on his first solo tour, supporting "Centerfield," and he kicked ass, even not playing any CCR tunes. I think it's overblown about the CCR revisited thing--if a bunch of commie hippie has beens want to ride on his coattails for a while, he should simply let them, and laugh at their insipidness. The other members of CCR were, and are, great musicians, but they have no original music to produce, else they would.
I seen the "centerfield" tour at the Universal Ampithetre & he sucked bigtime because he was a drunken bum loudmouth. Maybe you got to see him sober. Either way, I've seen all of Fogerty's bands and I've seen Revisted twice. I go by "the sound" to determine if I like the show(s) or not. And IMO, CCRevisited sounded like the original Creedence, & Fogerty's band(s) haven't come close. I appreciate Fogerty's music, but Revisted proves that you need key members (Drummer Clifford) to keep the sound.
What is wrong with being a Liberal. It just means you are welcome to change. The word got destroyed by the Right Wing echo machine. Fox News, all the righty talk show dweebs, Karl Rove, etc. After these past 8 years, it is definitely time for a Liberal President and Congress.

Lame. I wish he never came back. From "Fortune Son" in '69 to overproduced, commercial versions of the best of CCR. By the end of the decade, he'll be going the way of Stevie "Guitar" Miller, selling his greatest hits to large corporations for outlandish sums of money.
Of course he calls himself a liberal after all he came from a working class family, and actually served this country. Everyone knows there are few conservatives who do that. If he was a conservative he would be telling all of us how to live our lives.
John never servered in the bush becuse his brothers were already over there, he ALWAYS MAKES SURE PEOPLE KNOW HE NEVER SET FOOT IN VIET NAM. Unlike another Bush, G.W.B.,John actually served all his time in the National Guard stateside, Ft. Bragg, Ft. Knox, and a third fort in the south of the U.S. Fogerty said a lot of his inspiration for his songs are from talking to the guys who actually went over there whom he was serving with.By the way, have you looked up the word liberal in the dictionary?
Funny how you only mentioned that after I raised that fact after your diatribe. By the way I was referring to the modern day "liberal" which resembles tolerance but little!
We can only dream....btw, I saw a recent interview with Fogerty where he calls himself a liberal (no surprise) and said he likes both Obama and Clinton and will support whoever the nominee is.
Great indeed. A fantastic hit factory in his day. One after the other after the other. People forget how many top ten songs he wrote and recorded and many different styles. I know about 15 of his songs and I've only scratched the surface.
Glad to see he appears happy and has his legal troubles behind him and he's back doing what he's best at. His new CD Revival is really great.
ok gang...i was at the '97 show at radio city music hall..i was in the first row
i have never seen a top performer having as much fun on stage as john was having that night
and he gave me a guitar pick and a high five
it was a great show...and i was super impressed with his guitar playing...john is a great all around picker...
so thanks for that '97 show john
ps- life was good...little did i know the impending doom that lay ahead

Wow things are getting a little rough around here on the comments page!.
I am surprised nobody has yet mentioned the dreadful "face lift" in the 90's (when he didn't need one!) that even makes Micky Rourke look handsome!.
But nonetheless,CCR were the greatest singles band in the world 1970/73.
Their entire albums at one point were just collections of classic songs.Just like the Beatles really.
You don't see that anymore, unless you are into stamp collecting.

Addition:
Rolling Stone said of his 2008 Tour
"Fogerty finally reclaims his own musical vocabulary, playing with more passion and joy than he has in decades."
No mention of his previous band thus confirming what real Fogerty aficionados know.
