hello rick, thank you for your comment. Tanbour has three strings at all. The first two string are from steel and 0.20 mm and the third one from phosphor bronze (copper) 0.22 mm.
Some people use another version 0.18 mm steel and 0.20 mm phosphor bronze. Kind regards, Pooyan

This is so beautiful. I love the timbre of this instrument.
Also the amazing two directional singer sweeps in is technique are fascinating.
I'm going to try them out on my strumsticks. I'm guessing that the strings must be
very, very thin (from the sound and the speed of his sweeps). Does anyone know?
