My Dad pathologically hated the Beatles., threatening that "I was gonna get it" if I brought a "G** D*mned Beatles record" home. My first Beatles record was the "Nowhere Man" 45. I didn't hear much of their earlier stuff until 1970, when a local station aired a "All-Beatles" weekend. And immediately their older songs registered in my head. As did their current and future music. I thank the Beatles for coming along.
America was never the same again after The Beatles stepped off that plane on the February day in 1964. Their music and good nature brought so much joy to so many people. I will forever thank them for that.
Notice how we are STILL listening to them, some forty years later... Can we say that with any other group in today's society?
