According to Nirvana tech Earnie Bailey Krist owned three of those basses: the one in this clip, which was his original "Bleach" era bass, a second one which replaced that bass after the neck got all busted up and which is now on display at the EMP in Seattle and a third one he used with Sweet 75.

They can be told apart from each other by different wear and tear and in this case by a different neck.

What did you find nicer Krist, the Ibanez or the Gibson RD Artist?

I think the artist had a at humbucker growl. anoys me that its been dubbed over with a really honky sounding bass on half the songs on the paramount dvd.

He didnt use it for the in utero tour . He used it on the bleach tour .

@SimonJohnRichie he had about five of these. and while yes he DID use one for the bleach tour he also used one on the in utero tour (see the mtv live and loud performence). u can tell this is the one used on the in utero tour becuse during the tour after it was damaged they put a rosewood fingerboard on it. whereas all the other ones we're stock and had maple fingerboard with those cool inlays

this was the second kind of bass krist ever played(first being a roadmaster: ibanez fender copy) he used it way back in he late 80s. i think after they got famous his roadie found him a few other eagle basses.. but the original has the head stock chipped. just some extra info for ya.

@TahaMurataladdin Ah! my bad, that is really to bad those guitars are very rare, I think he had two of them at least it wasn't his RD! I don't play much bass but as far as resale value I'm glad the smashing was left to Kurt even though he killed the Vandalism Strat... more than once sick guitar but, I guess it had to be done.
