  • How long are you going to keep collecting?

  • @DrTypewriter I do not plan to stop collecting as of now.

  • @jmorton528 Then i wish you the best.

  • I am an expert typewriter technician, I have some old collectible typewriters, I want to sell it to the buyer who can really appreciate its beauty

  • @haroldtrump What machines do you have?

  • smith corona, underwood, olympia, canon, so far and counting. Thanks for asking

  • I thank you a lot for the help... tomorrow I'll make and upload a video of it. Winding the main spring was a pain, and I never want to do it again.

  • Now... if I had my camcorder back I can make a video of the fixed typewriter, and upload the video of my 1950 Crosley station wagon on the SD card.

  • Yeah those photos where what I needed, and yes that spring was missing so now I know where it goes... I wouldn't needed to do this if my cousin's didn't break everything they touch.

  • I have an old 20s Corona model 3, like the one at 0:30, that needs two parts to get working again. Those are: the cable that advances the carriage, and a small half inch long spring that I can't seem to find out where it goes... So do you have those parts and a service manual to fix it myself, or do you know where I can find those parts?

  • @DAKOTA56777 @DAKOTA56777 Any string will work for replacing the draw cable. I am not sure where the spring goes. Good Luck!

  • @jmorton528 Yea The cable is easy, but that little spring has to do something... right?(If it doesn't then it's just their to annoy me.) Also I have a 6" metal rod that has two holes punched on each end, that's what the cable connects to, right? If so where does it attach to the carriage I can't seem to find it.

  • @DAKOTA56777 The 6 inch rod should attach to the back part of the main body of the machine. A screw holds in in place on each end. If you send a couple pictures of the rod and the spring to jmorton528@gmail.com, I might get a better idea of where they go.

  • @jmorton528 I can send the spring photos, but my camcorder broke yesterday and I don't have any photos of the rod on my computer.

  • @jmorton528 Can you show how the cable goes? I made a new one, but I can't get it to go though without it getting caught up and sliding off the pully.

  • @DAKOTA56777 What you're probably going to have to do is take off the spring-loaded drum, open it up, and put the new draw cord inside with a knot to assure it won't slip loose. Then all you have to do is wind it up and attach the draw cord to the other side of the carriage.

  • @jmorton528 No, it's sliding off the guide pully, not the main spring pully. A photo would help can you email me one please. rdakota567@aol.com

  • @DAKOTA56777 Sorry for the delay. I will send a photo this evening. What part do you want me to photograph?

  • @jmorton528 The way the cable wraps around the main spring pully, and the way it comes up from the pully onto the carriage. Thanks, also I might be getting a old Underwood typewriter. Working condition only $50!

  • my face brightened up at the remington rand 50-60 models :D

  • I just got a fully functioning beautiful Royal 10!

problem is, I cant find the circa. date. It is in the middle of the old and newer model! i need help. Ps. Where did you get all of those machines!?

  • Find the serial number behind the carriage, and go to the typewriter serial number database. Most of my machines come from yard sales and antique shops.

  • @jmorton528 ok, thank you. Mine is a 1926 model.

  • @TheMike894ftw Call Advanced Business Machines. Jay Respler has complete factory records of Olivetti, Royal, and Smith-Corona.

  • That doesn't mean anything. Half of the typewriters say "Rare" on eBay, but it doesn't mean they are.

  • im pertty sure that is not RARE im just saying what the store said :)

but one thing for sure is.....

    HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGE!!

    collection

  • well, i think rare is relative in this case,, and in a lot of other cases! What might be rare in one geographic area might be common in another, and vise versa!

  • @Dreambro1 Rare can mean different things in certain areas. There is a "worldwide" rare machine, like the Sholes & Glidden, but there is also a "certain area" rare. For example, the Mignon Typewriter made by AEG is rare in the US. I have a Mignon 3, so is it rare? Well I would say no, because they were manufactured and sold in Europe, making them very common in Europe, and very common on German eBay.

  • i love smith caronas!!

and i have royal quiet deluxe in a RARE red color

  • Coloured Royal Quiet DeLuxes aren't that rare, but they are neat machines to look at.

  • That is a lot of typewriters!

  • Are these in working order? They really arent that valuable unless you can use them.

  • Most of them are. And they are still valuble even if the aren't fully working.

  • Hi jmorton528!

I'm not a writer or anything but I've always wanted to buy a typewriter because I love their simplicity, clickity-clacks and well, their aesthetics. Yes, I've used typewriters before but I'm young so I do care about function and how it looks, so I was wondering if you would have a recommendation for me. If it helps, I've been looking at the hermes 3000, Olivetti Lettera 32/22 and royal quiet deluxe. Do you have preferences with those?

  • @j0d33 Get a Royal KMM. They are fairly rare but cheap. If you can get one, then snatch it.

Otherwise, try getting a Remington Rand.

    Beautiful machines that work great.

  • @TheMike894ftw Royal KMMs are not rare at all. They are one of the most common Royal typewriters. I have 6 of them, all coming from local yard sales/flea markets.

  • @jmorton528 But you have hundreds. Where I am, any typewriter is rare. And they are. You only have 6. Hoseholds have usually 2 computers each.

  • @TheMike894ftw Actually, next to the Royal 10, the KMM was Royal's most popular machine, that sold in the millions. Still great though! By the way, we need to see some typewriter videos! I really want to see your typers!

  • @plungerdrum I made one, check it out!, by the way, Itll be till christmas until I can shoot video.

  • So as I was celebrating my birthday on March 6th, you were gathering typewriters... THAT IS AWESOME!!!

But seriously, How much so you earn to get that many typewriters?

  • I just save my money.

  • I am very Impressed!

  • There have been numerous shelves added since this video was done.

  • My God man! D: You fortunate, fortunate bastard. I wish I had just one typewriter. Sadly I can't afford the one I want. A Royal Model 10, or a Royal Quiet Deluxe.

Can you tell me where I can find typewriters online cheaply?

  • You can find typewriters at flea markets and yard sales for as little as $2 a typewriter. Look in a basement or attic! You never know...

  • I have a 1950's royal quiet deluxe for sale!!!

  • I actually have a Royal Quiet Deluxe. At 1:32 in the video, it's the 3rd typewriter in on the top shelf.

  • I was talking to TornAlchemist

  • only $40+ $20 for new manual

  • Enjoyed your video, more shelves soon to be built no doubt LOL
