I'm glad I'm not alone in wholeheartedly loving this movie. I'm glad there are others out there who feel the same. "The Fountain" is brilliant in so many different ways, and in the end, it's a true human story.
This movie is one of the few that delivers a life message powerful enough to make you rethink, well, everything. Music score is top notch, as always from Clint Mansell.
If you are fascinated by the idea of the circle of life, pherhaps even on an stellar or cosmic level, then I strongly recommend reading Isaac Asimov's sci-fi shortstory "The Last Question" about the fate of mankind and the entire universe.

Amazing beyond words... I don't care what your religions say happens to us when we die. I know I'm reunited with the ones I love. And I know we will live together, forever!
this would be so good in a movie. good music always comes from movies, ive noticed that since i started working at a movie theatre lol. this would be good for a scary movie, like a shutter island type of movie
were all talking about the music and how sad it is i watched it i cried... not my point my point is we should be giving props to the mastermind behind this give it up for Clint Mansell
@neerlandres The music is just one of the many amazing and brilliant aspects of The Fountain. I find it strange that you seem to appreciate the beauty of the music, but apparently not the movie? It is the the movie and the music combined that makes it a masterpiece. I think you should watch or re-watch it again because it sounds like there is more for you to discover within it :) Have a nice day!
This is my favorite song of all time. Death is the road to Awe and Together we will live Forever comes in at a close 2nd and 3rd place, but The Last Man is simply the most beautiful and sad thing I have ever heard in my life. The movie is, likewise, the best movie I have ever seen in my entire life.
Death is an unforeseen enemy that we must face every day in our lives. This movie single-handedly made me get over my fear of death, and actually start living my life. Such an amazing movie.
@TtoryC Maybe Death is not an enemy. Maybe it is actually Time that is our enemy, because there is a difference. After all, what would life be without Death? Would a world without Death be a better world? I somehow doubt it.
@jihadulnafs I didn't mean that there is no life after death. I only said that death is not our biggest problem and shouldn't be our biggest fear in this life. As to what well happen to each one of us after death nobody really knows as the final judgment belongs to God.
@OcularGraphix Well among the languages I speak, English is not the one I master. It remains that 'Grammar mistakes' are the least of my problems but I am working on that. Don't worry.
I think I have watched this film like 20 times and it still takes my breath away and the music it's just....wow there are actually no words to describe it.
The reason i think people cry from this kind of music is becuase they start thinking about their lifes, social problems etc. Music like this makes people stick together.
Hollow. I am hollow, but it is from internal celebration. We truly do become deadened trees. 29 years old and now I am hollow, I have nothing left but beauty. This film and this music could speak to so many, if we all just chose to listen. t
a lot of people are leaving comments saying this music is making them cry and they don't know why, thats because this is real music, you feel the emotion within...music gets no more real than this....when one can literally feel the music...
The movie and soundtrack is so touching. I rarely get choked up on any movie. Hell some consider me heartless. While watching this, I just bawled my eyes out. I actually had to watch it a second time just to pick up the parts that I missed. I bawled even more. I never had a movie or song do that to me. It's just amazing. So much depth to it and so, so sad.
@Directoroli300 I apologize if I've offended you. I was just saying that any one of us could die tomorrow, so we must make the most of our lives while we can.
This movie is one of if not the most beautiful movie I've ever seen I actually watched in for the first time the other day and it made me ball in tears many times through the movie and yeah same this song makes me cry to
I mentioned Tron because the OST is probably the only reason for seeing that movie, and it's not just fun and cool, as same as all serious electronic stuff.
However, teorically you should compare every kind of OST, even LOTR and The Fountain, without problem. That's my opinion =)
Haven't seen Source Code myself, and don't know much about the directer as a result. What I heard about SukerPunch was uh... how was it put? "an Action movie for pedophiles." unquote.
And when I saw Transformers 2, I felt sick and disgusted.
... And I just realized I'm not really saying anything. Sorry for taking up your time with my babbling. Just thought ya should know about Aronofsky dropping out of Wolverine.
I'm not a big movie buff like you might b. Nice talking. Later.
Haven't heard? Aronofsky dropped out of making Wolverine 2. At like the beginning of April. Last I heard the directer they are thinking of replacing him with is the guy who directed the Source Code, Duncan Jones.
I would've loved to see what Aronofsky would've done with Wolverine. He was perfect for that project! Big loss... :(
@WildBillKelso1 I hear you...so many people have no idea what this movie is, it's such a sad fact that most of the greatest movies of all time get swept under the rug because people today would rather watch an action thriller with no plot (there's nothing wrong with that I watch them as well) than watch a movie that is pure work of art like this one.
@WildBillKelso1 Don't forget about The Prestige. Jackman got pretty lucky back in 2006 that he could star in those two superb masterpieces. I highly appreciate the two films and both belong in my personal top ten.

@10teeleaf if you havent seen the fountain yet, you absolutely should. Mansell's work is absolutely incredible. the fact that he's composing for ME3 is likely one of the biggest reasons im looking forward to getting it this holiday season.
@zafdragon I agree. To all of you posting on other Mansell vids "I came here because I heard hes doing the soundtrack for Mass Effect 3" I say this: I was not considering Mass Effect 3 until I heard Clint Mansell was doing the soundtrack.
I watched this film a few weeks ago, at the time i thought it was good, but it has barely left my mind since, constantly stirring up new thoughts and vivid images.
Listening to this haunting song now, i realise it's one of the best films i've seen, and is criminally underrated.
@Toml420 because most people who watch it think its just a weird acid trip type of movie. when in reality is very deep and you need to have a great imagination to understand whats going on
@Toml420 Every time I watch this movie I feel different about it, it has many levels to it and that's just amazing. I can't think of any other movie that has that effect on me.
@BryDeeC This was exactly what happened to me. I was recommended it, watched it and was unimpressed. However, the same person also sent me the soundtrack. I listened and felt like I'd missed something and had a great urge to watch it again. It is now one of my favourite films. Truly a film that would be nothing without it's music.
@BryDeeC omg u should! I know that people either hate it or love it because it's SOOOO complex. But if you're one of those who is actually willing to give it a second try, you'll realize how profound it is...=)
@kshoxx my friend i have gone through the links.... but i am confused for it seemed to b only a religious debate between the Quran and the Bible..... i say neither are wrong... WE ARE ALL RIGHT.... the Quran is just the further continuation of God's message. The point i am merely suggesting is that if we don't know God's AGENDA, all we could possibly do is look to the Bible, the Quran,OR the Torah.. and try to find a personal view for ourselves...
@711grim any ways brother it was very nice talking to u...i pray ALLAH further clearify u AMMEN(i pray), and in ur life when ever u get spare time...when ever ..plz...sometime listen to the lectures of Zakir Naik..if u dont know this person..when u will start listening to him u will get to know about each and every religon..i was just like u my brothr i was just like u..bt 1nce i started listening ZAKIR NAIK every thing changed,,
@kshoxx I understand what you are saying for i believe in the prophets... but on judgement day. I will stand accountable for my actions my brother. I believe in God.. I believe in the word of the Bible. but i interrpret it differently than you... if this alternate interrprettation be wrong, then i will take accountability for my sins... if this is true, all i can do is pray and hope someone would not make the same mistakes.....
@711grim brother im not arguing continously just to make it unpleasent,,,,i foresighted smthng in u thts y im talking to u again nd again,,..,,,brother one thing is sure that u beleive in HOLY BIBLE,,which we call "INJEEL" the HOLY BOOK revealed on "PROPHET ESSA (JESUS)" ,brother this is wht my point is,,"that it dosent ends there on "Prophet JESUS"..it goes on..and it Ends on the last prophet MUHAMMAD (p.b.u.h), bro ONLY HOLY QURAN is the BOOK which cannot be changed not a singled sign of it.
@711grim brother..plz dont mind,,but just tell me..how many versions are there of HOLY BIBLE,,,and how many versions there of HOLY QURAN,?...1400 years have passed..but not a single sign of it could be changed by humans,,it is the same as it was REVEALED on PROPHET MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him)..in QURAN our GOD says.."NEAR ME(ALLAH) the religon is ISLAM"
@kshoxx It depends on the exposure one had early on. But the one thing in common is that every religion clains to be "the one".
I'm not attacking you in any way, but you don't have to shove things on peoples faces just because you think your cause is bigger, everyone tries to be happy with what we have, if one religion makes life barable for someone, who are you to call it rubbish?.
Live and let live, in the end, we are all stuck in the same place.

It's best for what it was made for. This piece was written with lonely sorrow in mind. The desolation one man has, as the life he lived drifted away.
There's no horror, there's no shock, there's no suspense; only the vast emptiness. Clint Mansell knows what he's doing.

@zafdragon I agree. To all of you posting on other Mansell vids "I came here because I heard hes doing the soundtrack for Mass Effect 3" I say this: I was not considering Mass Effect 3 until I heard Clint Mansell was doing the soundtrack.

I can safely say that this is one of the only films that has moved me perilously close to tears.

I watched this film a few weeks ago, at the time i thought it was good, but it has barely left my mind since, constantly stirring up new thoughts and vivid images.
Listening to this haunting song now, i realise it's one of the best films i've seen, and is criminally underrated.

@Toml420 i totally agree, so underated but isnt anything that is amazing so underated? black swan was good but this was the best of his works!
Directoroli300 1 year ago
@Toml420 watch it again, and then again. After a while, the truth sinks in, either you're ineffable, or you'll be forever changed.
DocHoncho 7 months ago
@Toml420 because most people who watch it think its just a weird acid trip type of movie. when in reality is very deep and you need to have a great imagination to understand whats going on
matthewrockslol22 6 months ago
@matthewrockslol22 imagination is not the word

@Toml420 Every time I watch this movie I feel different about it, it has many levels to it and that's just amazing. I can't think of any other movie that has that effect on me.

@Toml420 I'm really glad to read that. It's simply amazing.

The only fear I have in life is if there was no such thing as physical death. Imagine getting stuck in this mess of a reality, forever?
Now, that would be scary.

@SirianKings now that, would be an adventure.

I wasn't too fond of this movie the first time I saw it in my cinema class, but this music makes me want to give it a second chance...
BryDeeC 1 year ago 4
@BryDeeC This was exactly what happened to me. I was recommended it, watched it and was unimpressed. However, the same person also sent me the soundtrack. I listened and felt like I'd missed something and had a great urge to watch it again. It is now one of my favourite films. Truly a film that would be nothing without it's music.
slimjimmer 1 year ago

@711grim any ways brother it was very nice talking to u...i pray ALLAH further clearify u AMMEN(i pray), and in ur life when ever u get spare time...when ever ..plz...sometime listen to the lectures of Zakir Naik..if u dont know this person..when u will start listening to him u will get to know about each and every religon..i was just like u my brothr i was just like u..bt 1nce i started listening ZAKIR NAIK every thing changed,,
kshoxx 1 year ago
@kshoxx I understand what you are saying for i believe in the prophets... but on judgement day. I will stand accountable for my actions my brother. I believe in God.. I believe in the word of the Bible. but i interrpret it differently than you... if this alternate interrprettation be wrong, then i will take accountability for my sins... if this is true, all i can do is pray and hope someone would not make the same mistakes.....
711grim 1 year ago
@711grim brother im not arguing continously just to make it unpleasent,,,,i foresighted smthng in u thts y im talking to u again nd again,,..,,,brother one thing is sure that u beleive in HOLY BIBLE,,which we call "INJEEL" the HOLY BOOK revealed on "PROPHET ESSA (JESUS)" ,brother this is wht my point is,,"that it dosent ends there on "Prophet JESUS"..it goes on..and it Ends on the last prophet MUHAMMAD (p.b.u.h), bro ONLY HOLY QURAN is the BOOK which cannot be changed not a singled sign of it.
kshoxx 1 year ago
@711grim brother..plz dont mind,,but just tell me..how many versions are there of HOLY BIBLE,,,and how many versions there of HOLY QURAN,?...1400 years have passed..but not a single sign of it could be changed by humans,,it is the same as it was REVEALED on PROPHET MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him)..in QURAN our GOD says.."NEAR ME(ALLAH) the religon is ISLAM"
kshoxx 1 year ago
@kshoxx It depends on the exposure one had early on. But the one thing in common is that every religion clains to be "the one".
I'm not attacking you in any way, but you don't have to shove things on peoples faces just because you think your cause is bigger, everyone tries to be happy with what we have, if one religion makes life barable for someone, who are you to call it rubbish?.
Live and let live, in the end, we are all stuck in the same place.
Brother, that's a good word :)
