1) No, doesn't matter which pickup you reverse the magnet. The out of phase isn't related to one pickup, but to both. They are out of phase.
2) No, you'll get the same tone.
3) I don't know what happens. But considering that they are out of phase when one of them have the polarity reversed, maybe if you rotate the magnet of both, nothing happens.
4) No, alone the pickups sound exactly the same as if you not rotate the magnet.
Estou cada vez mais fã desses caps p90, ainda terei uma les paul com esse sistema simplismente fantastico, sou curioso pra ver ele tocando rock classic pra ver como se saem
Yes, it's permanent, because you get it by flipping the magnets. The middle position will always be out of phase, until you flip the magnets again. There's no way to switch, unless you do the electrical out of phase mod, that you can switch using a push pull.
I noticed you have a telecaster ...is there any chance u could teach us how to wire one of these out of phase? Thanks, great vid btw!

How different would it be to put humbuckers out of phase? And do you think you could do a demo with some overdrive?

Cool video, very nice guitar and good playing. Help a fellow guitarist out;
1) Does it matter which pickup is the out-of-phase one?
2) Would you get a different tone if you reversed the bridge pickup, instead of the neck pu?
3) What if both were out-of-phase, would that do anything, or would it just cirlce round to being in-phase?
4) Would the out-of-phase pickup sound different if you selected just that one pickup, as opposed to it being in phase?

nice, I always thought out of phase with a single coil would sound bad, but it's surprisingly good

Very interesting and useful video.
You changed the magnets on the neck pick up, would it work just the same if you changed the bridge magnets?...........just wondered
Always great to hear you play..;-))
bennettskb555 8 months ago
@bennettskb555
Same if you flip the bridge pickup magnets. The out of phase sound is a combination between the two pickups, one modded, one not.

I've always wondered what the out of phase tone would sound like. I never got around to watching any peter green stuff so this helped a lot.
great vid :D
