  • WOW!!! This song was radio number 1 in the day I was born!

  • @Ancaroliveira its a sign

  • How did you find out the other tune ? Mine is April 27th, 1971

  • Were all people uglier in general in the 70's? HAHA. THis song was the #1 single on my birthday, May 1st 1971. Guess which song was also #1 around 9-10 months previous to this, about the time I was conceived. Also Three Dog Night. Mama Told Me...(You know the rest).

  • @WIDESIDE72 Was the number one song on my birthday April 24, 1971 also!! Great tune~

  • @WIDESIDE72 I think my pop might agree with you, my mom took my pop for everything in the divorce!

  • I've met some of these guys before. They hate this song. :)

  • Are there any other three dog night songs that are similar to Joy to the world? like same beat or rhythm?

  • @50srocknrollfan18 idk how to look at that statement without looking at it weird

  • @50srocknrollfan18 that makes no sense

  • I sing this song to piss off my Mom.. she absolutely hates it..

  • This song was 40 years ago no.13 in the world year-end-charts #three #dog #night

  • My,My ,my Is Chuck Negron hot looking!

  • Do you get the sense that people were just so much gd cooler in the 60s/70s. Still that deep blues/ rock / southern rock heritage that we grew up with. All these politically correct fools succeeded in feminizing men, destroying culture, and music. Now there's no more soul in music, and the country is falling apart

  • @552mustang Wow you're an idiot!

  • @xa25 Right back at ya monkey

  • I don't hear the EP as well in this live version as I would like...love the EP. But it's still cool

  • Joy to the world

All the boys and girls now

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea

    My mustache is killing me

  • It was our graduation song when it was new!

  • the only reason i could bear listening to this song is because Straight No Chaser covered it. Otherwise definitely belongs back in its era.

  • @CTN13ChyAngel same situation here lololololololololololololololololololololol

  • If I had to name a song from my boyhood in 5 seconds or less, this would be the one. I was too late for the Beatles, and oddly enough I mostly listened to country on my radio--until this song came out of nowhere. "Uncle Albert," was another one from the same time frame that had as big an impact.

  • I may not be a bullfrog, but I always keep some mighty fine wine handy at all times!!

  • I was sitting in a whole school assembly, 700 kids, 1971, teachers and head master all decked out in gowns with 10 prefects all dressed up in uniform all sitting on the stage facing a sea of kids. You didn't look sideways or turn up without uniform. It was the head masters usual 10 minute rant and rave and then we'd all stand for a hymn that we'd learnt in music. With a rye grin the head prefect went over to the record player and put on "Joy to the world". Blew me away and much rejoicing!!

  • I wasn't crazy about the band leader.... but I could see he had a heart.... , so I sang him a song...!

  • I wore out the 45 I had of this song...

  • This song was 40 years ago no.5 in the world charts #three #dog #night

WHAT A SONG, "JOY TO THE WORLD", they got it, we need to figure this out. Tell Mrs. Nelson, she did a good job on helping her students, for being a good kids. You must of been good to like this :-) JOY TO THE WORLD, NH :-)

  • @rstemmler24 Love it! My second grade teacher made the class sing it. Great memories :)

  • @rstemmler24 , that makes me so happy for some reason...that is just awesome. Long live kids with creativity!

  • @rstemmler24 this comment made my night.

  • 32 people are joyless.

  • A lot of kids know this because of the words... it brings back memories of 'wild' parties, well, what we considered wild.. as newlyweds.. free from parental restrictions we could party all night and play our seventies' music loud!

Anyone know how they got their name? a great Trivia question..

  • @talex42 If you have not gotten an answer to this question it happened to be Danny's girlfriend at the time that came up with it. It has something to do with a custom in Austrailla and cold nights that when you slept with three of your dogs, you were kept warm all night, it was called a Three Dog Night. Read Chuck's book "Three Dog Nightmare". It explains alot about the formation of the band in mid to late 60's LA.

  • 2:32 video: Three Dog Night perform their 1971 #1 hit Joy to the World; song by Hoyt Axton.

March 25, 1938: birth of Hoyt Axton in Duncan, Oklahoma; American country-music singer-songwriter (d. 1999); well known as a songwriter, especially for his "Joy to the World" (know better by opening lyric "Jeremiah was a bullfrog!")

  • I used to listen to this as a kid!

  • Some of my earliest memories are associated with 3 Dog Night. Good Stuff, it can't get any better.

  • @aew200627 I'm guessing that Chuck Negron wasn't on drugs yet when this video was recorded because of how clear his voice sounds when he sings the falsetto part at the end of the song ! It's wonderful that he was able to get clean !

  • @aew200627 Noticed that Joe Schermie wasn't in this video ! :( A definate pity !

  • I was studying the Old Testament and learned Jeremiah was a bull frog!

  • 3rd grade and my music teacher. oh it brings back memories.

  • Negron had some really bad years, it was a shame!!

  • this song was my grandma's favorite song.

  • The happiest day of the year for parents:

    SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW!

  • In the US, ABC had the "Three Dog Night, Night" on New Years Eve for two or three years in the early 1970's.

Anybody remember The Three Dog Night Night?

  • @ZombiedustXXX I can't forget it ! I saw on TV in Japan when a teenager. I remember the countdown began in the middle of the song. :-p

  • This song reminds me of Bob Dylan, , Joan Baez, 7 Joni Mitchell-- SONGS

  • Cant imagine anyone else but Chuck Negron singing this glad he's clean and off the heroin he could have been another statistic. There music was and will always be upbeat you know you got something great with the right people!

  • Hoyt Axton wrote this song!

  • Is this band died?

  • Forrest Gump <3

  • Hoyt Axton wrote this song. It was the most famous song he ever wrote. Because, Three Dog Night, was the perfect group to record it. 6 weeks at #1. It was also the most famous song Three Dog Night ever recorded. Chuck Negron on the lead vocal.

  • @TOPOFFMAN What about One, Ely's coming,Shambala,Just an old fashioned love song? They were hits too.

  • @robbiesyohn You are right. All of those other songs were hits. But, You forgot one of my faves, Family Of Man. Also, Don't forget, The show must go on, Never been to Spain, Black and White, One Man Band, Mama Told Me Not To Come, Out In The Country, etc....But Joy To The World was #1 for 6 weeks. Biggest hit for them.

  • @ttttttc his son has an addiction to heroin and i feel really bad for him good luck chuck

  • If you listen closely to the lyrics, you realize they make absolutely no freaking sense.

Which is why this song deserves an award of awesome because no one can honestly complain about the lyrics. It is far too epic for that.
