  • Hey, I'm about to get an amniotic membrane with fibrin glue and the total just over $3,500. I am up for surgery on the second of next month. Yes it's crazy I know.I just wanted to answer the whole" how much is the total? " question for anybody out there who might be considering to this surgery.it takes about 20-30mins finish to start and you fully recover within the next 6-12 months. There is however chances of recurrence as well as infection, and any other surgery complications similar to tha

  • @maolekshot 6-12 weeks or months of recovery?

  • @xwishmasterx2 hey, so i just had the surgery done about 11 days ago and my eye is well on its way to recovery. as far as the "FULL" recovery time it is indeed at least 2months but others may heal slower so thats why i said 6 to 12. i was prescribed vicodin for pain, the 1st week was ruff but honestly after that its really just mild discomfort, witch isnt bad considering my eye was just CUT OPEN!!! lol. , any other questions or anything let me know. im happy to help, i plan on making a vid.

  • @maolekshot would be great if you can post a video man. Why you decided for an amniotic membrane and how long it will take go back to normal activities (work)? thx for the update.

  • It's expensive, indeed. Yet, it can be divided into, say, 5 doses in a sterile fashion for 5 patients who are scheduled to be operated on the same day.

  • @hifromtainan how much is the cost with the fibrin glue? Is it very efective than stitches?

  • So how much is to have the surgery with glue?

  • The major advantages of fibrin glue are (1) time-saving and (2) much comfortable to the patient; however, it's expensive.

Those who are younger, say <60 years old, or the morphology of pterygium looks fleshy will have a high risk of recuurence after simple excision. Since SpiderRios has undergone surgery for ~2 years, I think he/or she may consider to do the reoperation with autografting. Just consult your doc or ophthalmologists who are specialized in doing the autografting.

  • @hifromtainan Seems that fibrin glue is the best option. How much is the total with it?

  • @hifromtainan Why is it so expensive? Isn't Fibrin Glue basically Platelet Poor Plasma mixed with Thrombin and Calcium Chloride?

  • Pterygium is characterized for its high recurrence rate after excision, particularly if no adjuvant therapy has been used during surgery. In my belief, the best adjuvant therapy is doing conjunctival autografting in combination with excision. To secure the autograft, it seems that fibrin glue is better than suture according to the recent literature.

  • I been dealing with pterygium for about 2 years. it really is affecting me, people look at me and always stare at my eye. I got surgery once and it dindt work. my doctor says that everything will get better, but he has been saying this for over a year and now it seems like I have growth all over my eye. IT makes me really sad to see my eyes red all the time. I am really depressed. I really wish somebody could help me.
