Who the freak cares who plays what? Original Kiss members are lousy guitar players. Even Eric Carr thought Simmons Frehley and Stanley were horrible musicians.
Yeah as much as i love KISS, they had a "habit" of incorporating other's bands riffs into their songs. Van Halen's Aint Talking About Love Riff (78) incorporated into this album (79), just slow it down and we got a song! :)
Actually as far as tapping is concerned Ace was doing a little of it earlier than this song recorded in '79. (This video is 1981 but the soundtrack is definitely from Dynasty 2 years earlier). Even on the 1978 Alive II album Ace was doing a tapping section in his solo. But there are other songs where he tapped. It's not actually atrick that came about with eddie, Ace, or Jimmy Page. But that doesn't matter. tapping either works in a song or it doesn't and the TRICK is to know the difference.
And that is DEFINITELY Ace in the videos, Vinnie Vincent's face structure was different from Ace's, and Vinnie also had his own Makeup design, the Ankh pattern that Paul invented...
Ah yeah considering that ACE is in the video. Vinny wore an entirely different make-up design. Ace was still involved during the Elder period, but I think it was pretty much the last straw for him as he didn't get the whole concept & had a lot of his solos cut from the final album. He didn't participate in either Killers (import) or Creatures, but stayed with them for promo purposes. Since Ace left KISS just ins't the same IMHO
@Traqyer: Not in this video. I meant: go to the video(on yuotube) KISS -She- from the Midnight Special 1975. In that film Ace is tapping at 5:41. Are U with me now?
These costumes were great.....It was like a modern day gay black metal look that really went over well with only a few members..Gene and Eric...cause Ace looks like a cartoon whos related to Mighty Mouse and Paul looks like a gay disco dancer at Studio 54 in NYC durring that same era! Way 2 stand up to your record compony guys! Haw Haw Haw...Hee Hee Hee!...Love the album though!
Yeah, they're doing it to a recording. You can tell because it sounds just like the album version. Plus watch Gene's bass playing. He doesn't even try to make it look like he's playing.
It's not a fake video. They lip synced this performance in Mexico in 1981. There's also footage available on youtube of the band lip syncing I Was Made for Lovin' You from this same performance. They also did a lengthy interview, complete with a translator. So no this isn't fake. It's legit.
And where do you think he picked it up? Ace was doing single handed finger taps in 74-75. All Van Halen did was do the double handed ones. He might've improved it but he didn't innovate it.
In no way, shape or form did I say "in that video" (or look at Ace, for that matter) did I? Comprehensive reading is a tough skill to master, I know. And if by "excepted" you mean ACCEPTED, that's poorly articulated opinion, not fact. All you have to do is watch a show from the Hotter than Hell tour in '73.. he was already doing single taps there.
Well I guess you told me,huh? If you would like to contiue this conversation in person,I'm sure I could get rid of that "articulated"faggot, pussy attitude that seems to be your personality downfall.
Yawn. Run your mouth all you want. I'm not in the habit of getting in arguments with 15 year-olds. "OH NOES, hes dissin Eddie Vanhalen I haz rage!" Grow up. Conversation over,
@hernandrix Actually, he's not :) Van Halen released his debut album "Van Halen" in 1978, and on the song "Eruption" he taps. Charisma is from Kiss' album "Dynasty" which was released in 1979
@Traqyer: Not in this video. I meant: go to the video(on yuotube) KISS -She- from the Midnight Special 1975. In that film Ace is tapping at 5:41. Are U with me now?
@Traqyer Actually, if you listen to Ace's solo on Alive II, he does a tapping sequence on there, and it was the same time as EVH came out with Eruption. One difference though, is that Ace used his pick for the right-hand work, and EVH has always used his fingers for all tapping and hammer-ons....
@bardybeard If you say so, dude. I just pointed out a simple fact. Ace would be the first to tell you he's not in EVH's class of playing, but EVH did not invent tapping or hammer-ons, he's just the first to do it the way he did on Eruption...
@DannyRayMilligan66 i was watching a morton downey jr show with ace on yt and he said he would put his skills up against anyone,so i dont think he agreed with you.
@MrMarcoisgod Actually, Marco, I have heard Ace say in MANY interviews that he's never been any kind of virtuoso, and if he'd had any clue he'd have influenced as many people as he did, he'd have practiced more. Now Yngwie J Malmsteen is not my taste in guitar music, but the fact that he is technically amazing is irrefutable by anyone. You show me one place where Ace Frehley says he's just as good as Yngwie, and I'll show you someone who needs to revisit reality...
@DannyRayMilligan66 I'm not a fan of Yngwie based on his egocentric attitude but I agree that he is a great guitar player. My family is in instrument sales business so Yngwie does a guitar justice. And you're right: Ace has NEVER claimed to be anything above what he is. Ace is a realist and doesn't look into a mirror that deceives him. Your post here is right on the mark. Ace is Ace and not a guitar, which is why we love Ace from outer space! Great post!
@hernandrix Actually the song is from 1979. Van Halen's debut was released in 1978. Also while the song is from 1979 this clip is clearly from the Elder era based on the outfits they are wearing. That would make this clip from 1981. And finally this is clearly lipsynched. Although apart from Paul's early 80's workout video type outfit I thought this was one of KISS' best looks. Especially Ace & Eric.
@TNO73 You're sure this isn't Vinny rather than Ace? /from what I've been told, Ace wasn't/didn't contribute much to the album and actually left mid recording of The Elder.
@hernandrix I highly doubt that Ace even played on that track. It was probably Bob Kulick or any number of studio players that went uncredited on that album. Google it.
@morepiepleaseTV Kiss was required to do a video promo for a tour of Mexico. Rather than do something from the Elder, which sold very poorly in Mexico, they did a song from Dynasty, which was a popular record. As far as Eric playing drums over the lip-synched video, that means nothing. The producer of Dynasty did not use Peter for Drums on most of the songs, because he didn't feel Peter's drumming was up to standard for the music.
Sorprendente no encontrar comentarios de esta excelente cancion... probablemente la gente no sabe que exista??? o en su defecto son unos sordos de mierda que solo escuchan Love Gun.... en fin para eso estoy yo y lo felicito hijito, muy buen vid....

Wrong. This song was released in 1979, a year after VH's debut record, and some 3 years after Gene Simmons "discovered" EVH.

That said, EVH was predated by at least 4 years by Mick Box (Uriah Heep) and others.
