@NixiePixel Please allow me to explain. I found NixiePixel a year ago when I needed help with Ubuntu. You were very helpful so I started following you. Then your YouTube channel began to change and you focused less on Linux and more on video games and other tech. According to your "I'm a Linux Slacker" video you seem to validate my original post. NixieDoesLinux only has 8 videos. Ubuntu 11.10 just came out today, It would be awesome if you did a review.

@NixiePixel And again Nvidia doesn't have any of these issues. But hopefully ATI will release a good driver that fixes all of your problems. When you fix the bugs this game is simply amazing! Both graphically, and gameplay wise. All it took to fix my problems was to use the latest Nvidia beta drivers and a custom config. :).

Those with ATI chip sets are kind of screwed when it comes to this game. I have had no real trouble with it though, a bit of texture popping here and there but not enough to get annoying enough to throw it away.

@rapunkill I'm playing on Windows too and had a few problems. From what i could tell from the Bethesda and Steam forums it seems a lot of people had bad glitches. Id software themselves said something about 50% of players had problems, which is why they had that patch ready the day after release.

How strange that you're having so much problems with the game! I'm having no problems with the game whatsoever, not a single bug. I'm not even using beta drivers. The only thing that looks glitchy over here is the main menu (there's a weird flickery bar in the top). Heard there were a lot problems with ATi cards, though.

So what is your overall take on the game. I was really disappointed. Only took me 3hrs of googling to get it working. Had to use NVIDIA betas but game works flawlessly now across 3 monitors. Only part I liked is going in the city to get the defib. I still have to kill the big guy at the end but it made me jump a few times :) Was hoping for more of an open world feel. Looking forward to BF3 and STOR.

@NixiePixel I think hardware standardization shouldn't be a factor in today's world. We have reached a point where our engines are so high-level, that we can take literally the same code and run it on an android phone, in a web browser, or on any PC we can think of (e.g. Unity3D engine).

The reason why publishers prefer consoles is simple: Console titles will virtually always generate more money. Now the reasons behind *that* are very interesting and wouldn't fit into a YT comment :)

Nah - I think they overdid it with that whole megatexturing technology;it would've been better for them to focus on loading "normal" ones. I tried to run it on a crossfire rig and there still were texture pop-ups. It just pisses me off, when someone releases a bugged, not tested product. On the other hand I wonder if id will release Rage for Unix platforms like they used to do with their previous games - what do YOU thik ? ;)
