@462princess You're right. Africa is amazing in its resilience. Because you're right: even the poorest people aren't poor. They are rich in light and love and joy. But for an American who has never been exposed to the simplicity of African life, it can be jolting, because to us it looks like poverty. It's also convicting to us, because we whine about stuff that doesn't matter, and in Africa people don't have that luxury. So yesh. :))
@OLiberty94 you are forgetting about certain parts of africa where woman are being raped and shunned by their families and children are being born with aids. i went on a mission trip to the Republic of Congo last year and its making me very upset to see people saying some africans dont need help. i guess no one can relate to a 4 year old child asking me to take her home with me because she is a burden for her family to feed. we arent trying to make them live like us.
@HawianPunch95 I totally understand that. I went to Zambia on a missions trip last year, and it was indeed very sad. Poverty is prevalent there...but that is not the whole story, and it is also true that the people there are more joyful and resilient than we in our pampered lives.

@462princess You're right. Africa is amazing in its resilience. Because you're right: even the poorest people aren't poor. They are rich in light and love and joy. But for an American who has never been exposed to the simplicity of African life, it can be jolting, because to us it looks like poverty. It's also convicting to us, because we whine about stuff that doesn't matter, and in Africa people don't have that luxury. So yesh. :))

@OLiberty94 you are forgetting about certain parts of africa where woman are being raped and shunned by their families and children are being born with aids. i went on a mission trip to the Republic of Congo last year and its making me very upset to see people saying some africans dont need help. i guess no one can relate to a 4 year old child asking me to take her home with me because she is a burden for her family to feed. we arent trying to make them live like us.

@HawianPunch95 I totally understand that. I went to Zambia on a missions trip last year, and it was indeed very sad. Poverty is prevalent there...but that is not the whole story, and it is also true that the people there are more joyful and resilient than we in our pampered lives.
