Devastator is popular but many agree that the best combiner toy is Predaking. The individual robots are larger (around Deluxe-class) and all the combiner kibbles are stored on each robot's bodies so they won't be lost easily. If you want a real Devastator toy, you have to buy the huge custom 3rd party one, where the whole thing costs between $500 and $600.

Bayformers toys are pretty popular among Transformers collectors, though. Particularly the Scout-class line up from Revenge of The Fallen, and Voyager-class Long Haul that was based on a fan art that got the artist hired to work on Transformers. Not to mention the Leader-class Optimus Primes, and the Voyager-class Batlle Blades Optimus Prime.

Great animation! G1 Devastator wouldn't have worked in Micheal Bay's vision of Transformers because he refused to have any "extra bits" that appear out of nowhere (e.g. Optimus Prime's Trailer) like Devastator's hands, head, and chest shield, which aren't actually parts to any of the individual Constructicons. I agree though that I would have liked a Devastator that actually invoked G1 Devastator. Also, the Constructicons had great personalities, but we never even hear them talk in the movie.

I never liked the original Devastator. This video is even worse though; half the parts come from nowhere, and barely transform anyway. If anything they only fold, the way the parts of the Megazord used to.

TF Prime is awsome. As a REAL TF fan, i can say this: You dont know what your talking about, you have'nt watched TFP. I find a lot of mistakes in G1. And a lot of G1 fans are never satisfied, and can only accept G1. G1 is ok, but it's not fun to only watch G1, TFP is way better.
