There it is folks, not that it is going to make much sense anyway. The music choice isn't bad at all, if you have watched a lot of silent films, you would know all of them have either a simplistic instrumental or a great orchestration to set the mood of the film and is just as important as the film itself. A perfect example is the 1927 german silent film "Metropolis" or 1922 film "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror" Maybe those who want to complain should study up next time
The music track you added to this video sounds like something I would expect to hear in a rock ballad from Blink 182 with Tom DeLonge's limited ass guitar skills. Other than that, I think the black and white give the images an interesting twist.
Hi, I would like to have seen an onion being peeled by a clown sitting on top of an enormous cigarette packet at some point in this film, but you can't have everything I suppose. I enjoyed it very much, anyway. Incidentally, if you enjoy watching hedgehogs juggling Lima beans, you may also enjoy a site called icrappoetry (.com). Best wishes!
it's a very interesting film but i wouldn't call it surrealist. surrealist films subvert reality, hence the name - "su-real", this film doesn't present a reality as any human experience would define it, there is no environment, no characters and no plot development, if no relaity is created then you cannot subvert it and so this just isn't a surrealist film.
call it experimental or subversive, but not surrealist
@Zeanu well everything is what you make of it, all art is an attitude. and after watching this again I might rethink whether or not there is no environment, the swirling depth of a vortex does create an abstract form of environment. But if we're going to use labels like surrealism, soviet montage or "mainstream" then we need to use them accurately, it's about the methodology behind the film, if filmmakers are actually trying to achieve something then they use a style that enables them to do that

to be fair u talk a load of bollocks when people say its amazing, theres nothing special about it, and your either an idiot or very narrow minded if you think this is so 'amazing'
I'm neither an idiot or narrow minded and I find this film truly amazing...remember that surrealism and art in general is subjective...you may dislike it but I find it totally intoxicating...the French are excellent of portraying the form! Awesome, 5-stars!
Just because you realize you have no capability of appreciation for higher levels of art than Transformers 2 doesn't mean you should be so insecure about it.
Etes-vous sûr que ce soit le surréalisme? Je ne pense pas que je qualifierais de ce surréaliste. En tout cas, Monsieur Duchamp n'était pas essentiellement un surréaliste.
Amazing he got this so long before Beta feed-back "Dragon Spirals" of the '80's! This "Time-tunnel" seems to be periodically re-discovered by different means?
this was the best use of spirals and eccenric shapes ive ever seen. and to think this film was made in the 20s, long before CG animation was even thought of. That was true artistry....

The music sounds like this Jerry Garcia music I have ("Zabriskie Point" soundtrack), but I know it isn't.
But the visuals started to make me dizzy, so I just closed my eyes and listened.

I saw this first in a surrealistic art exhibition in Helsinki. Though I don't understand French, this somehow takes me into a "surreal state"...
I find it pretty cool, that this film was made in 1926, now it's in Youtube and I downloaded it into my mp3 player. Progress...
