Sweet sub.. H&K did it again. Only gripe is the rate of fire in the 9. I think it was a good idea to bring it down for the 40 and the 45, but the 9 just doesn't need it. Then again, I'd never carry the 9 so it doesn't matter much to me in the end.

@Alphacaliber nope that is an assault rifle caliber used by us/nato militarys however there have been attempts to chamber 5.56 into PDW platforms(although the designs of the firearms in question look as though they were inspired by the AR/M16 platform) to my knowledge :)

I think that the 9mm mp5 and the ump .45 are two different shooting platforms. They may have the same trigger mechanism (I am unsure of this), but these are two different guns. The closest relative of the Mp5 is the Mp5k (could be wrong, I am no expert).

@darthbilly97 Yeah it's a lot of fun. I had the opportunity to fire a few boxes of ammo through a full-auto MP5 and had a blast. It gets expensive very quickly though -- I burned through $50 of ammunition (and this was super-cheap 9mm FMJ range stuff) in just a couple of minutes.

Everyone should do it at least once in their lives (find a local range that rents full-auto), but semi-auto is all a civilian needs for 99% of situations.

If it fired any faster, you'd be better off taking the bullets out of the magazine and throwing them. Full auto fire in real shooting applications is unfeasible and generally frowned upon unless you're fewer 20 feet away.

@SuperKnifeGuy standard issue in the US military is the M16/M4 platform. and dont even start saying the AK is better than the M16, i think our boys would like a rifle that could fire a bullet that would fly straight beyond 500meters, instead of a bullet that would drop dramatically at 300meters. the G3 is a battle rifle but the M14 and its variants covers what the G3 can do if not better.

@airmanvtran yeah the m14 is a great weapon but it's design makes the recoil bigger than the g3. Comparing the two weapons they're 50-50. The ak 47 was got an excellent bullet but at 300 meters the bullet starts flying around...

@SuperKnifeGuy the M14 in use today isnt the same M14 when it first entered service. the M14 accuracy grouping is much smaller than a G3. the new EBR kits provides the M14 to be more of a true battle rifle; pistol grip, buffer stock, etc. the 7.62x39mm will begin to drop by inches at 300 meters.

@wilcox1219 i didn't said it was better because if you look the m4 is much lighter than the g3 ( the weapon issued by the army were i am ). I have used a hk g36 that uses the 556 and i thought i was a great bullet. The only thing that i don't like in the m4 is that it can't shot under water and it can't stand a hummer upon it... in conclusion the m4 is on of the weapons in the world but it cant stand external damage as the g3 or the ak.

@MrChamp51 if youre implying that the .45ACP is better than the 5.56mm...you got it really wrong. the .45 ACP is a pistol round, with an effective range of 150meters. the 5.56x45mm is a rifle round with an effective range of 500-800 meters, depending on the length of the barrel it is fired from and such.
