Yes - it's a common position. Just got a lesson 2 days ago and that's what we worked on. Hip rotation of left hip around behind you with some lateral movement AND pulling the BUTT of the club toward the ball. It brings the club down on that plane.  Next frame ends up club parallel with ground and right elbow pointed at right hip.
