  • His Spanish is pretty good.

  • Comment removed

  • @paulaegraham he translated it in the song -.-

  • @paulaegraham seriously?

  • didn't get a single word...its fun thou :-)

  • Hahaha muy buena canción ;]!

  • Weird comment! This song popped into my head today and I started singing it to my 5-month-old son. Turns out, he totally agrees that mexicans are undervalued by our society and shouldn't be cast out by our government. I know he agrees, because he laughed. A lot.

  • @Nettices funny, maybe his first word will be Obama

  • @devanaire I am very prepared to be offended by that statement. Let's consider an alternative to your claim. Maybe he'll just be a caring, educated, socially aware individual who likes to hear his mother sing in Spanish.

  • @Nettices I was just joking around, I am sorry I offended you. Maybe you are right as well.

  • @devanaire No problem. I was hoping you were kidding, and slowly convincing myself that you weren't, and that someone had just taken a stab at my baby. Protective mother is protective. My bad!

  • You know this guy loves and memorizes Tom Lehrer!

It's a great tradition that gets "troublesome ideas" distributed and remembered.

  • Good to see all the comments from racists offended by the song but afraid to say why.

  • @andrewjbutton he's not being racist, he's poking fun at elitism and bigotry. Any race can do that, and most of them do.

  • The indians stole the land from other indians.

  • they stole the land from the indians anyway

  • I love it when Zimmerman smiles.. those funky smiles AFTER the joke =D

  • Estoy contenta porque comprendí este canción sin un traductor.

  • I LOVE the like, "No se quien es el padre", bloody brilliant!

  • idiot

  • phenomenal! especially considering much of the west and southwest was stolen from Mexico.

  • We won a war and then paid $20,000,000

  • Which makes sense. You don't want poor, bitter, nationalistic neighbours. (cf. Wehrmar republic, fall of, WW2)

  • in responce to one all for him, you do understand that your excluding 2/3 of the world?

  • It can take years to get into the U.S legally. And it's extremly hard. I know that there taking jobs away from other immigrats, but if you want them to come in legally,k then make it easier. Oh, and them coming in from Mexico isn't grammatically correct.

  • Says the person that uses the wrong "their."

  • That and there's the misconception that all Latino immigrants to the US are from Mexico.

  • Sorry, I should have included central and South America, and the Caribbean

  • nah you were addressing the other person's comment, it made sense :)

  • I don't get why everyone hates immigration. 3% of our GDP is dependent on them

  • it's illegal immigration, them coming in from Mexico illegally is basically just cutting in the line in front of legitimate immigrants.

  • Excelente Roy! Hablas español?

  • Great spanish Roy, congrats

  • I think the premise or moral for this song is simply : we wanted cheap labor and the Immigration issue that has over crowded our nation is our own fault and we need to come up with a proper resolution. And learn from our mistakes

  • I'm drunk

  • Este hombre no deja de sorprenderme, tambien canta en Español!!!

This guy is awesome, he sing in spanish too!!!

  • tHIS MAN IS AWESOME, but more to the point, he is awesome in multiple languages.

  • Graciosete el colega.

  • ROFLMAO!!!!

  • ¡Magnífico! ¡Baila conmigo, querido Sr. Zimmerman!

  • LMAO, great man!!!

  • nice :)

  • To paraphrase from a great author "Complaining about the purity of the english language is like complaining about the purity of a cribhouse whore. English does not borrow from other languages, it chases other languages down dark alleyways, knocks them over the head, and rifles through their pockets for adjectives."

  • It's true, English really is a b*st*rd language.

I mean, allegedly the father is Deutsch but Mama fooled around so much w/ her Latin lovers that sometimes it's hard to tell. ;)

  • O, it's not that she fooled around with Latin lovers. She was raped by the French after the Norman Conquest. Then during the Dark Ages when the Christian Church tried to rule Europe like its own empire, all scholars spoke Latin, so our legal terms are Latin. Our scientific terms are Greek, but 85% of everyday words are still Germanic.

  • Perhaps, but out here in California, she definitely had a fling with some Spanish missionaries.

  • Probably, yeah. English can be such a whore sometimes.

  • English doesn't borrow words from other languages, it stalks them down dark alleys then beats the shit out of them, takes their money and walks away laughing.

  • You betcha English appropriates every thing It is the hardest language to learn, probably for this very reason.

  • look at how many untranslatable words there are in other languages now, english words that get butchered into accents and ululations.

    those English's rape babies.

  • still think dutch or icelandic is more difficult:P

  • No it isn't. It's pretty damn easy, when you look at how many manage to learn it.

  • Even though english is confusing it is not tonel and all the words are always made up of leters instead of having their own simbls so its pritty easy in comparison

  • @325982668 Yeah, those poor other languages... They're the REAL languages, you know, not like that dirty low down charlatan "English." God, I hate English. If only it would realize what it's doing to us, the ones who deserve to speak real languages.

  • @325982668 for how long same thing happen to roman, perssian, egypgian and so son do you think the rest of the world is going to have pity or mercy on abully? and by the way is kintergarten original word not kinder garden ignorant and why is patio or sombrero in the webster dictionary

  • thats true of all languages

  • Well... No. You're forgetting Chinese.

  • you're kidding right? Which kind of Chinese? There's more than one, moreover its the very nature of languages to assimilate words from others. And, Chinese languages use English and other wester words all the time

  • No, sorry, I was taking you at your word - my point is that Chinese dialects were not at all affected by the Christian church.

I was being a bit flippant and annoying. Hey, it was late! XD

  • but i must concide that they are mostly nouns

  • I looked at the title and thought it rhymed with shingles. Accent marks, man!

  • yeah, I was thinking laura ingles wilder from little house on the prairie. I was so confused...

  • su es mi favorito hombre en youtube. Buen cancion... I love your work man... keep it up.

  • When you don't know spanish, the song sounds like a compleetly normal song... but then he translate it. This song rocks!

  • this made me laugh, but also makes me feel like a horrible person

  • hahahahahahaha! buena cancion!

good song roy!, i love your work! keep it coming!

  • Que bien Roy, me gusta tu cancion!

  • Awesome. That's cool that Roy can sing in Spanish without butchering the language.

  • That's why I love Multi-cultural languages. You may not know a word of the language, but by reading and listening, you can pick up words and their grammer.

  • "You may not know a word of the language, but by reading and listening, you can pick up words and their grammer."

It's "grammar", but you're making excellent progress! :-)

  • I make a spelling mistake and you think English isn't my first language? That's pretty presumptuous of you.

  • "I make a spelling mistake and you think English isn't my first language?"

Not at all -- you're clearly far more literate than most users here.

But even with the smiley present, my attempt at humor apparently escaped you. I suppose it's a cultural difference more than anything else -- this isn't Slashdot.

  • thats the reason my cousin can speak spanish and my oldest son speaks italian french and spanish

    the youngest speaks japanese

i love living in a multicultual city ..new york

  • "Multiculturalism" has got to be one of the most irrelevant solutions to racial tension ever. It diverts attention away from shared human identity, furthering racial divisions.

In an attempt to debunk the idea that people are different merely because they look different, "multicultural" sentiments use words like "diversity" which make that exact same assumption.

This is the decadence of political correctness.

  • Was he actually speaking Spanish? Because I don't know a word of Spanish but I had almost no trouble translating.

  • yeah he is spanish is really easy to understand , when said slowly and with out the castillian lispy s sounds

  • yeah as im getting older i find that im picking up spanish ..but i live in nyc ..you know Nueva York

my oldest is now fluent in spanish but speaks passible italian and french as well ..all of which he picked up from the neighbors

i love living in a multicultural area

  • @dancingnature De oude Nieuw Amsterdam...

  • the funniest part is that no one laughs until he explains it.

  • great song. great job with the accent to:)

  • "no sé quien es el padre"

    lol

  • It worked for the Chinese didn't it? Idiots.

  • Jesucristo301...it worked for the Chinese, but the people that they were trying to keep out didn't have near the technology that we have now...for instance, the airplane renders the great wall utterly useless as a defense mechanism.

  • If you think these people HAVE airplanes...

  • If you think people smuggling operations don't at least have access to airplanes....

Just my first thought on reading that.

  • Also, the Chinese weren't trying to stop 3 or 4 guys crossing at once, they were preventing a massive Mongolian horde or guys on horses from coming into China.

  • Hey, you never know when Mexico is going to invade!

  • I do. May 7th 2009

  • Actually, the Great Wall's primary purpose was deterring people from raiding, but heres how: Manning the Great Wall with any sort of real defense would have bankrupted pretty much any nation on earth, then or now. However, the massive Wall made it hard for raiders to cross BACK over the Wall with their loot. So the wall was designed to keep them IN, not OUT.

  • That sounds curious.

Some pople in México are still fraid that you are invading them AGAIN.

Also acourding to the world bank the unemployment problems in México started because of the NAFTA (wich you propoused by the way), seems like if you just stoped kiking their economy the wouldn´t habe no reason to migrate at all.

  • The fucking dumbass American government thinks that a fucking wall will keep out the mexicans...I'm assuming they temporarly forgot about a thing called a ladder? I swear you must have an IQ of 3 to qualify as a leader of that fucked up country.

  • Before I say this, I don't support a wall. In fact I think it is anti-american to do so. Our nation was founded on immigration. Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. ect ect ect.

But have you not heard of razor wire? Sorry but I live in a prison town so i've seen just how effective a simple wall can be.

  • Razor wire would work if they had it on the wall, but they don't. Its basically just two pieces of aluminum siding screwed onto some wood. I saw how easy it was for the mexicans to climb over it. They showed some videotape of them doing so like it was nothing more than a chain link fence.

  • I concur, but everyone always hates the new people. Ben Franklin hated the influx of Germans in his lifetime, saying that we'd all have to learn German. Actually, my German ancestor arrived during that period, to intermingle with my French, English and Native American ancestors. My Celtic forebears entered the country a little later, and they weren't exactly welcomed either, just like my Italian forefather. Just call me an all-American girl.

  • The difference is that back then they werent nearly as tolerant and politically correct as we are now, meaning back then they didnt actually make an effort to learn german or native american or gaelic, whereas now people are making an effort to learn spanish, and spanish is becoming the official second language, just as french is here in Canada, even though in both countries Chinese are one of the most numerous and culturally significant factions by far, and are offered no consideration at all.

  • I really don't see why people object to this so much. In San Francisco official documents are provided in English, Spanish, and Chinese. It makes for slightly more cluttered ballots, but other than that it's really no big deal. And to those who insist on the purity of good old-fashioned Anglo-Saxon American culture, why don't you go back to England where you came from and leave America to the natives? Actually, come to think of it, why don't you go back to Germany and leave Britain to the Celts?

  • well the democrats don't want the wall, but all the retarded republican candidates do. it's very sad.

  • ¡Muy bien hecho, señor Zimmerman! Buenísima canción, desde hace tiempo soy admirador suyo y ahora aún más. Suerte.

  • Über alles ... nicely placed.

  • "Alberto Gonzales.. for the time being"

Surprise surprise, he has resigned :)
