IMO, I think he sang the song so much better when it first came out. You could tell that he really meant every word in the song, and he sang from the heart. In this recording, he's just singing it because it's still one of his most famous songs. Without the feeling if broken love, quite frankly this is a second rate song.

This is such a great performance.  They were truly the best choir. There were some better soloists on the other teams, but this group sounded the best as a choir, which was the point of the competition.
