give me back crt any day. many of the big screen lcd tvs can not match the quality of the 36" crt tvs that were produced. lcd looks noticably grainy compared to crt. also remember them saying lcd would be more energy efficient than crt. i looked and the new big screen tvs and they use more power than crt did. only good thing about flat screen tvs are the smaller size which is the only reason the industry has adopted them
@210482fmj CRT is better with low quality analogue signals, such as DVD and Scart or regular tv broadcast.
But if you run a LCD/Plasma/LED tv on digital equipment such as HDMI cabel hooked to a bluray player or a computer... You'll be compelled to toss the CRT on the scrapyard.
Hmm. well i got into the HD Tv market about 5 years ago, bad choice as i knew little about True HD and HD Ready...so as you can guess i got a really nice Sony BRAVIA that was not 1080p only 1080i.
So now i'm looking to upgrade to a full HD Tv for my Computer, Sky HD & Blu-Ray. Only thing is budget is about £400 - £500 and that cutting it close and id really like a plasma screen, 42" is big enough for me. Finding a good Plasma for that price is hard so i may have to go with LCD/LED
@eseblue13 yes, panasonic G or V series plasma should be your choice though for two reasons, for gaming the panasonic has less input lag and the panel on the G or V series to me is more resistant to Image retention than the S series or samsung and lg plasmas.
@demorik thanks i was think about a samsung a 46 in that i was in a wal mart today an i talk to people who work there an they said a plasma samsung is a good choice but i want to make sure
@eseblue13 samsung plasmas are good but they do show ir more than a panasonic which will make you worry, the panny also has less lag, i had a samsung and switched to panasonic because of this. Just remember after you game use the scrolling bar or just watch some full screen tv, that will get rid of the image retention.
Comparing LCD and plasma is like the special olympics. Whatever the winner is, it's still retarded. Both technologies are rubbish compared to a Sony Trinitron.
Plasma TV's often creates radio interference problems (EMC). Pleas use LED or LCD ! Plasma TV's are altso very power hungry (lot's of watt used). Thank you.....
OLED is the future it produces the brightest\darkest\most colored accurate\vivid picture better than plasma or lcd or projector and it uses the least amount of power only because the pixel produces its own light its also very thin
I Have a LED HDTV it was special & what this video does not mention is the power consumption of a plasma which is on average double what an LCD uses But the LED TVs are less again & the Image is more brilliant than the Plasma & sharper than the LCD, Cant say I have ever seen a sharp image on a Plasma, So I guess they are wrong as Plasma & LCD will be hard to sell soon, you can get a bit more info on this aspects from coeffishant (eBay Reviews) Air-conditioning Guide.
@silvybling Bear in mind that this video was produced when LED-backlit TVs weren't available. You're right, the power consumption is significantly lower, and the colour gamut higher than most LCD or Plasma TVs. But you don't have an LED TV (that's just misleading marketing from the manufacturer). You have an LCD TV with an LED backlight - by definition, it can't be 'sharper than an LCD'. Along with 3D, OLED, Mirasol and maybe even LEP, the display market is getting pretty exciting these days!
@WRfourfiddy Hehe - he's loosely based on Stan, the dodgy salesman from LucasArts' Monkey Island games. But it's actually our social media guy, Jason.
Warning lcd is 0,05-0..010 mini sec slower than a normal tv, monitor thats slow for sport, shoot games, fight games, race games, and every thing what fast is so if you are a gamer don´t buy a lcd thats a big mistake buy a plasma that is fast as a normal tv, monitor and it is sharper and tighter and if the screen is a little bit darker than a normal tv, monitor no problem go to setting and do brightness higher. than is every thing perfect.
I have a 19 inch LCD TV, an Xbox 360 Arcade hooked up with an HDMI, and a blu-ray player hooked up with a component cable... Should I switch the cables, or just keep them the way they are??? Text me the answer... 740-827-2714... Thankz 4 all ur help
i know they make it seem you cant have a home theather tv without being a plasma. LCD looks just as good with the bright colors..not making much of a difference.. LCD with lights off are just as good as Plasmas..not much difference at all..not much.
your supposed to burn in your plasma. for the first 50 hours leave it running on medium contrast/brightness settings. plasma uses gas and heat for pixel generation so imagine burning a candle for the first time it melts cleaner then the second time you light it.
i have both....i first bought a 42 " vizio lcd tv.....i love it......i then bought a 52" sony plasma......and i have to say the picture on the lcd is crisper and clearer. But the Plasma is better for games its much faster and with all the dark colors in most games it looks better. So overall i would say that the plasma is better.
i know alot of people complain about plasma is that the white color fades fast in plasma after a month. Plasma seems to have a bad reputation among people i know. They just want an lcd. One thing i'm not sure if there's a different between a $20 HDMI cable as to a $70 HDMI cable or is this another ploy by the stores to make more money on accessories?

Dude I got an LCD and got burn in!
And when I took it back for a Plasma, the stupid thing had dead pixels!
So I took it back for a DLP and the glare was un-bearable!
So What did I do? Nothing.
I now have the best entertainment possible and it has been around for ages!
Starring at my wall......
