The man was the epitome of Nero Wolfe, infinitely better than William Conrad and a shade better than Thayer David had been. It's unfortunate that the series was cancelled after two brief seasons. Mr. Chaykin will be missed but not forgotten.
It’s a terrible tragedy that Maury Chaykin has passed away. You can help remember him by contributing to his memorial website at maurychaykin*people2remember*com
The first time I saw him on screen was in "Dances With Wolves", and I thought who the heck is this guy? I didn't know at the time, but realized right there I was witnessing someone who was trruly gifted. Then I saw him in "Whale Music" and it was confirmed....and it's confirmed everytime you see him on screen.
Then there was a little Canadian movie that was a bit dark and also starred Paul Gross.....I forget the name of it, if anyone remembers, please let me know. He was a Great actor! RIP
I met Maury about 3 years ago, sitting across from me in a sandwich shop at Bloor-Spadina. I turned to him, acknowledging recognition and we talked for about 15 minutes. He was a very warm and intelligent guy and I wish I could have spent more time with him. Brilliant actor. He'll be greatly missed.
I know sometimes the view counts bugs up when there's a lot of views that happen immediately after a video is uploaded, but that clears up after a while... this was posted months ago.

Maury Chaykin - *always* recognized in those many supporting roles.
Oft times remembered only as "what's his name?" So remembered now
upon his death! Mr.Chaykin, you are sadly missed as one of greatest
character actors ever!
