Many of the people who go to Unitarian Universalist churches would agree with you. You see, this wasn't your typical church. Atheists as well as various types of theists go to these places. So if you're trying to stir up theists here, maybe you should think about this and instead show some sympathy. Some of the victims could have been people like ourselves, after all.
To be honest I'm not sure. I find the whole UU philosophy to be a little wishy-washy myself, but my guess would be that maybe some atheists would go to feel some sense of community or something. Also, perhaps they're interested in learning about the more positive aspects of religions, and of how they relate to each other as well as with other ethical systems. At least, that's sort of what I've heard.

At first I was going to remind you that the people would be able to fight the US military. Not many of us have cluster bombs and Black Hawk helicopers. But the truth is, it wouldn't be just small arms. If a revolution were to take place in the US, it would be more like Iraq, with suicide bombers and such. It would be an intractable mess. The people would suffer, but those that were left would prevail.

UU Churches are not really Churches - they were long ago - historically around Benjamin Franklin's time - today they justify their existence off the backs of more traditional Churches and religions. UU's are extremely liberal, about so-called "social justice" and very pro gay, homosexual and atheists. UU's now are empty souls when it comes to any kind of healing God - Christian or Jewish. Lots of pseudo-elitist types attened these UU Churches - often gay Ministers, lots in New England.

To be honest I'm not sure. I find the whole UU philosophy to be a little wishy-washy myself, but my guess would be that maybe some atheists would go to feel some sense of community or something. Also, perhaps they're interested in learning about the more positive aspects of religions, and of how they relate to each other as well as with other ethical systems. At least, that's sort of what I've heard.

At first I was going to remind you that the people would be able to fight the US military. Not many of us have cluster bombs and Black Hawk helicopers. But the truth is, it wouldn't be just small arms. If a revolution were to take place in the US, it would be more like Iraq, with suicide bombers and such. It would be an intractable mess. The people would suffer, but those that were left would prevail.
