Great to have another Winter Solstice song. Some family was getting weird about our not celebrating the Christian version of the holiday anymore. I just enjoy celebrating the spirit of good will that St. Nick tried to promote. So has so many others before and after him. So why not celebrate the end of another year and the beginning of another new year? Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for the song.
Just heard this for the first time not too long ago. Love this group, and as a flutist myself it's quite something to hear such fabulous playing. Anyway, thanks for the post, and happy holidays! <3
I do like this, but it really sticks out as being a non-Christmas song for Pagans, nude erotic rituals in the middle of a field with bits of holly sticking out from certain places etc. Good fun though.
Thank you so much. Had the original single back in 76 but, like many things from my youth, it's gone missing! Thanks for bringing back the memory. Best xmas song ever.
I have often thought what this tune would sound like if sung by a full symphony choir with the members also doing the clapping - I am sure it would look and sound utterly fantastic!
John Glascock contributed amazing backing vocals to this tune. Some of it sounds a bit tricky. He is usually only recognized for playing bass with Tull. Love the years he was in the band. "Songs from the Wood" is my favorite Tull Album. Thanks for posting words to this track.
Agreed, Nice to know of another Glascock years fan. Songs From the Wood Album would not have sounded the same without his contributions. Brilliant album from start to finish.
I can listen to this song at any time of the year :3

@jgfan79 My favorite era was the time Glasscock was in the band. They made the best music at that time.
