  • @_@

  • hello coraline is a girl

  • he was a transformed pumpkin

  • 0:20 Ouch and he was just trying to help her.

  • why did the other father(with button eyes) become so fat nearly the end?

  • The Other Mother punished him for helping Coraline out, I think.

  • @littleficky or because the other father is actually a pumpkin

  • @littleficky because the whole was falling a part so i think its like a cinderella thing

the other mother made the other father out of a pumkin and as things go wrong the carriage turns back into a pumkin

  • @littleficky if you look at the end, he has the body of a pumpkin. the other mother called him pumpkin. that's why

  • I wish I had an Other Mother.

My mom's fat and her food is total SHET.

I'd let my Other Mother sew buttons in MY eyes any day. ☻_☻

  • I'm sure Coraline felt the same way. :P

  • @PurpleMysticDew She would EAT YOUR SOUL. Do you know what you're saying?!

  • 1:48 holy shart!

  • After watching this movie, I gotta say that Teri Hatcher did an amazing job at playing the Other Mother, in a good, scary way.

  • 1:50 OMG SCARY!!!

  • It looks like John Saw and Cruella de Vil's long lost child X_X

  • Gaiman was a genius for trying to entertain his daughter with this story. ^^

  • I really wish I could have seen this movie in 3-D now. Looks like it would've been even better. :<

  • this movie gives me the willies *shiver* (:

  • The pathway leading into the other world reminds me of Giygas's lair for some reason.

  • It reminds me more of the little door from "Being John Malkovich".

  • The dark version of the pathway reminds me of a maze that the people working in my elementary school's Octoberfest set up for the little kids. We had to crawl around in there, and there were a couple of spiderwebs hanging around us, which made me so eager to find my way out of there, LOL!

  • its seem stupid on the tv but wen u c it its awesome.... i saw it saturday with my friend, it was so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

am goin to c it again but with the 3D glasses.... even with out the glasses its still great!!!!!!!!!!

  • where can i watch this? online anywhere?

  • I very much doubt it. 3D movies don't really work over the internet.

  • Comment removed

  • You don't get what I mean. The movie is designed to be watched with 3D glasses. I hate how there's really no term between a "3D glasses animated" movie and a "3D" animated movie, like CGI or stop-motion. Quite irritating.

  • i want to see this movie so bad but my mom wont let me bacause she thinks it is too childish for me. i wish i had another mother

  • Too... childish?

Drag her along and see how "childish" she finds it.

  • Your mom thinks it's too childish?

I haven't seen it yet (but MAN do i want to) but from what I've read it is NOT childish.

  • The movie was AMAZING. ^___^

  • Glad I don't have a stepmother........ same principle.. XP

  • HOLY SHIT! @ 1:48 i love the book, i read it in gr4

  • wonder how it ends, probably an unexpected dark ending

  • Go see the movie and find out. ;)

  • its cripy

  • she gets out safely cuz she's the main character, nothing bad happens to the main character, not at the end at least

  • Thanks for spoiling it for me fucktard

  • today is february 6th but im gonna go to the theaters tomorrow. im so excited i don't think im gonna sleep! O.o oh by the way my mom's sleeping with me tonight. i have a double bed. oooooooooooooohh! O.o

  • Dude!! I wanna see this movie so freakin' bad! I can't wait!

  • i know shes terri hatcher, but she looks like eva longoria

  • the voice of the mum and other mum looks like eva longoria

  • You were close; it's Teri Hatcher.

  • I gotta see this movie!

  • 1:49

    that would give me nightmares

  • Coraline has more guts than I do. if I saw a version of my mother with button eyes, i would have gone home immediately and sealed the door with everyhging i could find.

  • i would never put buttons in replace of my eyes, they look FREEEAAAAKKKYYY!!!! LOL XP

  • i guess a lil kool?

  • Scary mother

  • It worked alittle....hyperventalating

  • How do you see out of the buttons?!!? I would also ask the other mother if it hurt (probably does). Good thing I'm not going to see my other mother ever.

  • I guess the buttons become the eyes, like the way they are on rag dolls. In fact, the other mother and the alternate people in her world, with their button eyes, have a quality like dolls (that gives them a pretend trait, the way little kids use their toys to make a whole other world of imagination when they play.)

  • Does anyone else get kind of a "Being John Malkovich" vibe from that little door? ;)

  • geez, what mom and dad whants to put BUTENS in ther dawters eyes?!

    cool movei thoe!

  • Clearly your OTHER Mom and Dad.

  • O_o

  • Let's hope you never meet them, but they're out there... >:)

  • Quit trying to scare us, LOL!

  • Ahaha! XD

  • It's her other mother genius, and is actually a witch. Did u even watch the thing?

  • wow

look at how old Dakato Fanning looks in this video,

then go watch the trailer for the movie "PUSH"

and see how old she looks there

they must have done this interview like 2 years ago

  • Read the book in 5th grade when it cam out. It was probably one of the most interesting things I have ever read. The claymation/stop motion really DOES bring this movie to life :)

Thanks for the upload, can't wait to go see it!

  • this is making me wanna start doing claymation(stop motion) movies again

  • Sweet! It's always good to see an artist find new motivation.

  • My new favorite movie

  • Coraline:NO WAY YOUR NOT SEWING BUTTONS IN MY eyes

why would they want to sew buttons in her eyes anyways?

  • Other Mother hoped she could talk her into it right away, but sometimes they need some time to think about it.

  • It's lovely getting to be able to listen to Neil Gaiman talk about the book and movie. Thank you.

  • It's my pleasure. :)

  • the other parents look exactly like Coraline's parent except with black buttons for eyes and different hairstyle

  • That's the idea. They're appealing copies.

  • i wanna see the movie also

  • cool i wanna see the movie

  • If you freeze the frame at exactly 2:02, then you'll see that Coraline has some pretty funky teeth.

Man he design is so cool, I even love her imperfect teeth!!

  • UUUUUUUGH I WANT TO SEE IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!! i love how the moment i finished reading the book only because i thought it looked cool i found it was being made into a movie...super awesome coincedence =D

  • Me too!

  • Oh! i Read This book it was really good too! i wanna see the movie is it out?

  • It's being released on February 9.

  • Oh so they like just made it?

Kool i cant w8 for it to be released

  • Actually it's been in production for seven years, so they didn't "just" make it.

It's funny because people have been telling me that this movie has been using computers to take "shortcuts" with the animation. :p

  • No, February 6

  • Oops.

  • AHHH.. The door didn't open up in the middle of the night! Coraline opened it when her mom was as the grocery shop!!!!!

  • She also opened it up with a key. My, you're pretty anal about this, aren't you?

  • Yea i am.

  • The thing that I'm finding strange is how much the father talks in the movie.

I mean, he gets turned in to a freaking blob near the end of the book because he talked too much.

  • This movie seems right for me

I enjoyed Nightmare before Christmas, but it just wasn't dark and creepy enough for me

    This however seems AMAZING!

  • Man this looks good!

Seeing it on the Friday it comes out!!!

  • u noe wats interesting? in book stores, they sell coraline books that have 8 pages of the art from the film, and at the back, it has a part of the script, and when the other parents ask her to sew buttons into her eyes, and she says no way, the other dad picks up the needle and says cheerfully, "see, it doesnt hurt a bit, cora----ow!!!!" he pricks his finger with the needle to prove to coraline, but it obviously hurts, and the other mom kicks the other dad under the table!:)

  • I'm loving this movie already. :D

  • Ik me too!!

I watch the trailer like everyday!!

  • Yeah i went to see the movies on friday i saw the trailer to the movie and then i was OMFG this movie look's so COOL! So then when i came home i looked it up and was OMG it's a book! So then i bugged my dad to take my to barnes and noble to get the book and yea it's cool i got the one that has the script in the book and the pictures. Anyways, i finished the book in 2 days and i LOVED it!! Can't wait till the movie!!!

  • johnnyzelda~ What movie was the trailer attached to?

  • Ahh idk?

  • Uberman5000, where did u get all these things???

  • I have my ways. ;)

  • i've always felt the whole catch like to the story is "forbidden fruit always tastes sweetest and has the most worms"

this really captures that essence in stop motion

  • what's shakin', baby?

febuary is just too far away...

  • Coraline is a fab book!

  • hahaha.

    that would be painful.

  • they shouldve made this into a pg13 movie and not a kids movie, cuz wen i read the book, everything was grey wen i imagined it. if it was a bit scarier it would scrae the crap out of me just like the book did!

  • So... they would take the children's book... and make it into a movie children shouldn't see? Though I'm sure just making everything "grey" wouldn't necessarily isolate it to an adult audience.

I wouldn't worry too much about how "scary" it's going to be. It's being directed by the guy behind "The Nightmare Before Christmas", and I trust his ideas of what's "scary" more than anyone else's.

  • all i was saying was that it really isnt a kids book and a book THAT SCARY shouldnt be a kids movie, kids would get freaked out. it was never a kids book anyways, it was a novel. by grey i mean that everything was really dull in the beginning and then at the end everything was dull again. itz just my opinion, if u dont agree with it, keep it to urself!!!! i love henry seliks work but the beginning was intended to be dull and boring for coraline, if u saw it a different way, i honestly dont CARE!

  • gobunnies231 discourages insightful dialogue. :(

There are novels designed for children, though; just because a story is long doesn't mean kids can't read it. Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, The Wind in the Willows, Watership Down, A Wrinkle in Time... children's literature can be just as rich and deep as adult literature. And Coraline IS a novel for children. To leave your boring old real life for an idealized fantasy is a dream all kids have.

  • I love the book; anxious to see the movie!!! February 2009 is just way too far away!

  • Funny,i don't think that the other mother was really a witch in the book.......

    LOL "what's shakin' baby?"

  • She is. She's called the "Beldame", which means an old woman like a "hag", which is oft-times synonymous with "witch". And I'm not sure I've ever seen a woman that can do all of what the Other Mother does not be referred to as a witch. ;)

  • awesome!!

  • Now I've read the book- it's awesome!

My advice: read the book, then see the movie.

  • ive just started reading it. so far..boring. but im only on ch.3

  • it's just description in the beginning, but later things get a little creepy.

  • i wonder; if everyone in the real world is in the other world, where is the other Coraline?

  • In the story, the Other World was designed to trick Coraline into selling her soul to the Beldam, so that would mean it was created for her. Having an Other Coraline wouldn't make sense.

  • true

  • That's right. In the book, Coraline actually wonders if there is an Other Coraline in the Other World.

  • "What's shakin' baby?!" That's SUCH a cute line coming from one of her toys!

  • I just wonder if the door may have once (When not being used as the way to the Other World...) been a crawl space of some kind... Maybe that's why the door was so small... (And in the book, I think they said it used to connect the apartment next door to Coraline's own apartment...)

  • Maybe it's small so that little kids can go through, so that the Other Mother can easily get to them.

  • I actually have a door similar to that, but it's next to our bathroom and has access to our plumbing.

    How fantastical ....

  • "Oh, but we need a YES if you want to stay here!" I LOVE that!!! This movie is going to be awesome!!!

  • I wanna read the book now

  • The book is most splendid indeed. ;D

  • Clever how they chose that tube for her to crawl into through the door. Because in the book Neil Gaiman describes the hallway between the Normal and the Other world as "Seeming longer and longer" everytime she walks through it.

  • The door in the book was normal-sized, and I always thought of the hallway as looking vaguely normal, besides its indeterminate length. The little tiny door and crawl tunnel reminds me of a kid's version of "Being John Malkovich", which is actually pretty awesome now that I think about it.

  • Look's incredible.
