Clearly a blue: the dorsal, caudal, and pectoral fins scream it; but once he's well visible, the body shape and that screaming beautiful blue color nail it. Really glad these folks left him alone. BTW, was this at the "Seaside" in the FL panhandle?

How rare!! Like some of the posters said, this is a pelagic (open ocean) shark. Why was he here??

It's a Blue Shark that probably followed some baitfish into the surf zone. You can tell cause of the color of the shark (blue), it's small dorsal fin and it's longer and rounded pectoral fins. Not even close to a Thresher Shark which have long tails and they are usally wider.

I doubt it was there to hurt anyone.. sharks often go close to the shore because shallow water has more air, sharks need to keep moving 24/7 or they would suffocate, in deep waters they get tired, so they come close to the shore to relax, yet still get more air.

I love how regular people are so freaked out about a shark when they're not even in the water! When I see little baby sharks get washed up at the beach, I bring them chest-deep in water and revive them, people on the beach just stare at me and people around me swim away like it's a big deal. looking at the color and the fin it is a blue shark im am happy it made it back out to the sea depending on the weather that day and how the currents were carring the fish it probly got close to shore chasing food, and if there were alot of fishers out that day the smell of the bait would draw it in.

It is a blue shark. The length of the pectoral fins gave it away. And then when he came out he was clearly a blue color. The elongated nose also screams blue. Ive never heard of blues that close to shore. Interesting.
