If we didn't have Net neutrality, we wouldn't be allowed to even make videos like this. The internet is the only thing we have left to fully communicate what we want. Heck we wouldn't even be able to make comments like this anywhere on the internet.
No that is not what is being said. WE do have net neutrality. They are telling you all this because it could be taken away. So yes leave the internet how it is....meaning don't take net neutrality away.
You must not have noticed the quotes around "net neutrality" which meant I was referring to this concept of "net neutrality" in which government has more power over internet. If your ISP is doing stuff you don't like, vote with your feet. The proposals will not leave the internet how it is, but will give it restrictions under the FCC. When government gets involved it always takes more than it gives.
Did you watch the video? We do have net neutrality, which we're about to lose, that's the point, they make it a number of times, in the video you're talking about.
Let me put quotes around "Net Neutrality" which is what they are calling giving the FCC control of the internet. We do not have "Net Neutrality" but we do have net neutrality. Who is threatening it and how? If your ISP is, then switch companies. If all ISP's do it someone can make a killing being neutral. If the George Bush's of the world have control then we are screwed. People with power always create crises in people's minds and then rush them into situations giving themselves more power.
Well gang, get ready for Mr. President to decide when and where you and I get to enjoy our internet - "in case of an emergency' as defined by the President's security council and the Council on Foreign Relations.
why is everyone so scared of government control? the government is supposed to be run for and by the people. we need to take our government back from the CORPORATIONS that have STOLEN our FREEDOMS by lining the silver pockets of corrupt politicians. welcome to corporate fascism people, what happened to the democratic republic?
The government is supposed to be limited. "Of the people, by the people, for the people" has nothing to do with our founding documents or principles but was a phrase coined 4 score and 7 years (87) after the start. The founding principles are to limit government power thus letting the people be free. More government just means more chance for power and corruption.
So you need to understand that this is not about the government having power over the internet....its about ensuring that the isps don't change the internet from what it is today. Im sorry but i don't want to pay more for internet than im paying right now.
I think as long as the FCC has the right to enforce punitive legislation against network providers that violate net neutrality regulations we've got a good balance. They don't need to have an invasive monitoring procedure, just the ability to kick some butt on an as needed basis.
That's the crux of the EFF's complaint: The FCC has not been given enumerated authority through legislation to regulate the Internet.
I agree with the spirit of their objection, that the FCC should not be allowed to assume these powers just because they said they had them, but would rather that the rules be drafted and examined even without an explicit mandate to enforce and obtain that through legislation at a later point.
How would you go about doing it? This legislation is a working plan and until someone comes up with another way to control the ISP's from wasting my money, I'm for it.
"Fortunately, there are two opportunities to reign in the FCCs expansive views of its own ancillary jurisdiction. A federal court is considering this important question as part of Comcast's challenge to the FCC's order last year regarding interference with BitTorrent traffic (PFF filed a strong amicus brief in the case, arguing against the FCC's power grab). Or Congress could limit the FCC's power by authorizing to regulate only to ensure network neutrality.
Senator John McCain has apparently decided to take up the issue of "net neutrality," and, in a piece of legislation that's been bought and paid for by the telecom industry, the "Internet Freedom Act." to keeps alive the recent tradition of ironically named laws. What the "Internet Freedom Act" would do is to allow Internet service providers to privilege their own content over competitors by slowing or blocking access to other web content. correct name: TELECOMS FREEDOM TO CONTROL WEB CONTENT ACT
The suspicious part is not GOVERNMENT, so quit blaming the wrong party. Who to watch out for is CORPORATIONS that control the pipeline. Despotism is always the end result od a controlled pipeline.
SO FAKE! at 1:23, u see 2012 END in background founding fathers knew about 9/11, no doubt! Its proven George Bush was the last pilot of the crashed 9/11 plane uploader of video is a known freemason this is the strongest NWO conspiracy Youtube-video just look at 00:34 wit 2 towers burnin and all seeing eye at 1:52 in right corner illuminati signs all over the place! learn the truth people 2012 will be for us or against us Clear logic look it up Biden and Obama are Pharaohs descendants
This is a REAL issue for me, I already have multi billion dollar corporations protecting their interests and controlling my news. I do not want them controlling my internet. It is the only place I can go to get unbiased news from both sides of the story. I want to make up my own mind, I don't want to have to tune into Fox for help.
Think of the control this would allow gov'ts. They could control everything the citizens know about the outside world. Remember how important the internet was in exposing the rigged elections in Iran? This is dangerous, it should not be allowed under any circumstances.
I was going to forward the video to a bunch of people I know that oppose the issue of Net Neutrality... until I got to the last comment that has nothing to do with the issue of Net Neutrality. Can someone edit her out of that otherwise great video?
Almost feels like a tribute video to the death or constriction of the network, which began early by the media companies. The introduction of NAT routers with every broadband connection (and of limited speed) it a testament to this.
Ironic that a business level connection offers the full unrestricted freedoms.
Free and open internet is the greatest invention in the history of mankind.
I don't want some politico or executive telling me what information I can or cannot have access to. Tell these freedom hating politicians to move to another country if they want to control people's lives this way.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It should be a taxed and heavily regulated industry initially, in order to secure and maintain our rights online. Eventually the taxpayers should own the infrastructure, and give it away freely with citizenship.
When wireless gets good enough, and strong enough, the people will connect together to create their own network. Owned and operated by each individual device, and made to communicate by open protocols and standards.
There are countries already deeming internet as a right (a basic human right) and vowing to have guaranteed broadband to every home by 2020. I don't see why it shouldn't be a right if it's something that vastly improves the human race as a whole.
Love these clear voices speaking out for open internet!
