Brian was a very talented musician. Unfortunately he suffered from depression and
may have been bipolar. All this does not mix well with drugs and alcohol. The drug busts were brutal to his fragile state. Death was very suspicious... wonder if we will ever know?
Jones was by far the best musican in The Rolling Stones. But he couldn't write songs, and Jagger and Richards could. I think they edged him out of his former leadership role of the band, and that pushed him even more to get loaded to the point where he could no longer contribute. The last album he really contributed to was Beggars Banquet. The Stones only made two or three great albums after his death.
@frank47hammer We'll never know that. In Jones time with the band, only Bill Wyman wrote a song that appeared on an album and that was because they were all fried and going through court cases. Brian co-wrote Ruby Teusday and wrote a movie soundtack. Being insecure about his stuff and knowing they would get rejected by the glimmer twims would have just fed his paraonoia. I beleive such a good musician would have had GREAT ideas. Maybe not in the Stones style but surely would found an audience

Brian was able to play more then 20 different musical instruments. In one life time, this is a miraculous accomplishment. For a man of 27, he gave birth to a legend. And no one has done that yet after him. Mick and Keith would be nothing with out the man with golden hair.
And the teardrop guitar.
May your soul find the peace it needs and thank you for inspiring me to learn guitar. :)

brian was a dear talented boy and extremely handsome but as Andy Gibb he killed himself, not strong enough to confront life they were?nobody destroyed him lovely boy. who could work w/ somebody in the state that he was.
it wasn't all his fault, he had bipolar and living with bipolar is very hard especially non medicated, but brian medicated it with drugs and music. if he wasn't bipolar i think things would of been very different. it was bipolar that killed him, when he went into an episode and nothing felt like it was worth living for, mick put him down all the time and took his band away from him.

bria jones wll be a rolling stones bless you you are die i am 5 years olds and since i love the stones i have 10 yea ol when i hard the since i can't wake up morning without lstening stones
In Tony Sanchez's excellent book, 'Up and Down with the Rolling Stones,' he gives an account of Brian and the boys in New York City (I think) and Brian, wearing a full-length mink coat, lets it fall open and, being naked, began masturbating while the other Stones watched. Jagger reportedly delighted in this shame.
I've done shameful things in my life that I've regretted, and so I suspect it was impulsive stuff like that which caused him to want to erase the pain via too much drugs and alcohol.
listen folks, brian jones was not murdered, what happened was, frank dunks brian's head a few times, gets in brian's face and says something like, "you're a nothing, a nobody, your band is gone, your girl is gone, you cant write songs, you cant sing, you can barely play guitar u doped out freak" and at that instant brian told himself "yes frank you're right" and when frank dunked him again, brian said fock it, ive had enough, and took a nice deep breath of pool water.
I have read in numerous places that he's been sticking to wine & was paranoid about illicit drugs. As for prescription medication, I'm not sure.
He was indeed a blues man & did start The Rolling Stones. He WAS decieved by lots of people, but he too had decieved a lot of people. He peaked too early.
Keith was only on smack for 10 years. They've had a couple of decent albums since '74, but to my mind their 'peak' was the Mick Taylor years.
ya Brain was stoned alot. but so was Mick and keith. the stabbed brian in the back. Keith was a heroin addict for 25 years for Gods sake, taylor made up for Brians absence by making the stones the greatest live band in the world but after he left. they have been shit ever since. I love old stones but they havnt ,made a decent record since 1974
drinking was only getting worse as far as i know due to the lack of drugs. and musically he was a blues man through and through, the stones were getting away from the blues into rock n roll, where the money was at and that lead to tension on both sides.
Hail Brian Jones, leader of the Stones, always! Mick did him in as surely as Yoko did John in. Then had the nerve to celebrate in his pretty white dress.
Brian Jones lived a seriously hardcore drugged up life, and charlie watts was that suprised to see him die at 27? I mean despite all the drugs and alcohol he drank, he died in a fucking pool... if the drugs wouldnt have killed him, some other accident while being way too intoxicated just as easily could have. Charlie watts is a fucking idiot. Morrison, Joplin, and Hendrix died at the same age, about the same time, it wasnt fucking uncommon.
Charlie Watts was young in that time too. It's great difference between losing friend when you're young and when you're adult. When you're young it's unexpected and fucking shocking even if your friend treats like Jones, Joplin, Morrison and other.
Charlie Watts was young in that time too. It's great difference between losing friend when you're young and when you're adult. When you're young it's unexpected and fucking shocking even if your friend treats like Jones, Joplin, Morrison and other.
Brian Jones was having his house redone at the time of his death... was apparently of drugs and known as a strong swimmer. On his deathbed, builder Frank Thorohood confessed to killing Jones by saying "I did Brian"
Brian Jones was the founder of the Rolling Stones. Brian's swimming pool death was not accidental. This is not a "new" revelation - murky details about the death have been scrutinized pretty much since the day after it happened in July 1969.
I read somewhere that Jones had the ability to pick up pretty much any musical instrument and be proficient at playing it within a half hour. But I also read where Charlie Watts stated that they had to cut him because his talent as a musician wasn't up to snuff.
So I'm not sure what to think (except that the girls seem to adore him because of his looks).
I heard the same thing about the instrument proficiency but I also heard that the reason he was not "up to snuff" after a while, was bc he was taking too many drugs. I guess to be that proficient he had to leave drugs alone.
I thought about Brian on the 39th anniversary of his death. I was only 10 when he died...what a beautiful, talented, sensitive soul. RIP Lewis Brian Hopkin-Jones.
His girlfriend at 00:36 looks just like Sienna Miller. which is a fucking good thing because both of those chicks are fucking are and i bet they have some nice tight clits. Cheers and drink Heineken,.
what?? you have been watching too much porn - this is about a great man and his music not an opportunity for you to express your sexual frustration....
brian would have remained a stone if he wasn't gone. he was kinda like syd barrett the only difference was he died young. and nothing? u call let it bleed, ya yas out, sticky, and exile nothing? some girls, emotional, tattoo nothing? i beg to differ.
Brian Jones was considered the driving force behind the Rolling Stones from the bands early origin... He could literally play any musical instrument there was...His contribution to the Stones success was obvious..... I remember hearing about his passing in July of 1969 when I was 7 yrs old.... May Almighty God rest his soul.... Kerry

listen folks, brian jones was not murdered, what happened was, frank dunks brian's head a few times, gets in brian's face and says something like, "you're a nothing, a nobody, your band is gone, your girl is gone, you cant write songs, you cant sing, you can barely play guitar u doped out freak" and at that instant brian told himself "yes frank you're right" and when frank dunked him again, brian said fock it, ive had enough, and took a nice deep breath of pool water.

He was indeed young & a gifted musician. Genius? I doubt it. A true genius is able to channel their abilities.
They tend not to beat women, rip-off their bandmates, be so off their head that they constantly miss gigs even though the world's at their feet.
He was on his way back as far as drink & drugs, but I don't think he had anywhere to go musically.
He was murdered alright. Had he not been I still believe he would not have made old bones.
bobage9 4 years ago
drinking was only getting worse as far as i know due to the lack of drugs. and musically he was a blues man through and through, the stones were getting away from the blues into rock n roll, where the money was at and that lead to tension on both sides.
to the best of my knowledge

Keith Richards and Mick Jagger didn't even go to Brian's funeral, and they were his best friends. Some friends. At least Charlie went, he's a friend.

Brian Jones was having his house redone at the time of his death... was apparently of drugs and known as a strong swimmer. On his deathbed, builder Frank Thorohood confessed to killing Jones by saying "I did Brian"

I heard that story as well!
He apparently heard him calling for his 'help'; well he 'helped him die' !

So I'm not sure what to think (except that the girls seem to adore him because of his looks).
guyNbluejeans 4 years ago
I heard the same thing about the instrument proficiency but I also heard that the reason he was not "up to snuff" after a while, was bc he was taking too many drugs. I guess to be that proficient he had to leave drugs alone.

Kerry
