  • RED RANGER WINS!

  • The guy in the blue maillot is my new idol. Strike! xD

  • I like the wheel flick at 1:07

  • Hard shoulder charge, is that legal???

    Unbelievable!!

  • That #7 is a dick! Watch him after the finish line. He comes around the winner, and clips his front wheel with his rear wheel. The guy in red has his hands off the bars, and doesn't even crash! That would have taken down most riders. He didn't even flinch. In America, there would have been a fight for sure!

  • @arklat in fairness it really didnt look like he meant it in my view

  • @TheGAAman If that's your opinion, then, fine. I raced track for years, and it is a significant part of track manners to be careful after the line is crossed, to keep riding a straight line, and not to veer up or down the banking. The winner has a very good, stable bike, to have assisted him in not falling. That is important in pack races, like the Keirin. I used a Colnago, because it was the best, most stable bike I ever rode. It was like it was on rails! Bumping like in this race was easy!

  • @arklat i suppose weather he meant it or not your right he shouldn't have crossed lanes! i dont actually ride track but i think it's great to watch really exciting.

  • @TheGAAman Well, where would any sport be without fans and supporters! I quit racing bicycles in 1981. I got into triathlons. And, yes, track racing is very exciting to watch! I am a big fan. I just wish the Americans had a deeper pool of talent. Keep watching!

  • POWER RANGERS GO!!!!!!!!!

  • Crazy shit !!!

  • at the end the white cycler must be disqualified

  • hipster nascar at it's finest

  • holy, how did green survive that. and orange almost won, wow after almost dieing

  • omg its nascar `lol jk

  • Real japanese kamikazi's!

  • Road Rash on bicycles lol

  • Japanese Keirin is fixed, and im not talking about the gear, im talking about the finish. The crowd (betters) don't know the outcome, but the riders do (minus the crashes). It has to be very random, to keep people tossing money at the bookie.

  • This makes my Velodrome racing seem like a sissy sport.

  • Just learned about this sport and told myself "Wow, theres no way people don't wipe out badly in these races". Sure enough, on that back stretch (is it called that...I'm a t&f runner :|) of that last lap, they start dropping like flies.

  • fucking epic

  • just when i thought the pink guy was gonna ride away

  • haha poor number five getting left and causing a crash haha

  • ke finocchi sti japponesi ahahahah xD

  • #1 wanted it badly

  • rensóóó

  • What's this? Burnout or what? xD

  • "My opinion. Never said you had to like it. And it is dull.."

While I undrstand what you are saying. Stating that your belief is opinion and a truism does not work and has the effect of adding an arrogant tone to your statement. My past response was to express the fact that Keirin racing has been in japan since 1948, and that it isn't a gimmick to draw attention to the sport. The rest of my response shows that your statement is an opinion as you had stated it as a truism.

  • they need another group of riders to make it a double rainbow

  • LOL I guess cycling could use a little more excitement. Not the worlds most sexy sport. Sorry to all the cycling fans but its true, cycling is fairly dull. Or at least "Tour de wherever" is. Thats why they all use drugs on tour, isnt it? Ok, that was facetious but whats next? Punches? James Bond-type gadgets that stick into an opponents spokes maybe..

  • @risingone

This type of racing has been around since '48. It's nothing new.

What's dull? Riding approx 2,200 miles in less than a month? Possibly climbing the height 3 times Everest? Maybe doing all that with broken bones from 30-40 mph crash?

I agree cycling isn't the worlds 'most sexy' sport. I'd say it's the sexiest. Sweaty dudes in tights! Hawt!

  • @eliphant0723

My opinion. Never said you had to like it. And it is dull.. Unless youre bicycle mad but hey, whatver floats your boat. Besides, seems like the Tour de Farce is about to unravel anyway if what Landis and chums have to say is true and all the so called heroes where drugged to eyeballs..

  • @risingone

"Besides, seems like the Tour de Farce is about to unravel anyway if what Landis and chums have to say is true and all the so called heroes where drugged to eyeballs.."

Nice dismissal. Doping has been in this sports a long time. Landis only accused former Postal Service teammates and a couple teammates from the Tour of California. Landis has no credibility as well. He's lied for too long.

  • @eliphant0723 Yeah I agree. The people who would like to start dismissing cyclists as all dopers are those who never liked, practiced, or understood the sport in the first place. True fans understand that the sustained effort required to win any Tour is sky high and have long known there are cheaters. Professional cycling is one of the most masochistic sports out there it naturally is a haven for performance enhancing drugs. However, with that comes some of the most stringent testing in sports.

  • @mtb416 I totally agree with your comment, however I think as cyclists, we must also accept that probably most every professional cyclist is on some sort of performance enhancing drug.

We must all also understand, that simply taking these drugs will not make you win. You still have to be a freak of nature. Drugs, might, might, maybe, give you that extra 0.5% extra to get you that 1 minute in a 3500km tour.

You are right though, cyclists are masochists. Why else do we go and find hills for fun?

  • @tommo2785 You raise a common misnomer that many non-athletes share, tommo . Barry Bonds, Floyd Landis, Marion Jones, etc., all were uncommonly good among their own peer group of athletes, let alone when compared to the average person. What we call "talent" is mostly due to physical gifts and/or traits, not some mental edge. The 'mental edge' only comes when you're confident you can perform the task physically; only when does will take over.

And yes, we are total masochists, haha

  • @mtb416 only *then* does will take over

  • @risingone

    PS u mad?

  • @eliphant0723 Youre taking this way too personally.. why bother wasting your time? I dont care for cycling and your arguing the case for a sport i think is dull isnt going to convince me otherwise. It was an off the cuff remark, a statement of opinion. Get over it. And yourself.

  • @risingone You're a TROLL. Don't feed the troll.

  • @noxinix Douche. Yeah. You.

  • wam baddy kaddy ching chong maddy laddy fong wang ! Translated My life is shit

  • Dude 0:58, that dude in white was hardcore, but the dude in black wasn't having any of it. I only live like an hour from Tachikawa, I should go check out one of these races.

  • lol 1:08 almost took him down after the race was already over. haha.

  • The guy in orange deliberately crashed the guy in blue at 46 sec.

  • Keirin allows for A LOT of wrestling, bumping, shoving- makes the sport retain its hype. you saw what happened at :43.

  • These dudes are Badass!

  • violent shit

  • well keirin is used for beting like the western world bets on horses so when money is involved...ppl get pushed around...

  • Are you still allowed to cross the inner line the event of a collision such as that?

  • 0:43 is crazy!!!!!!

  • スーーーーゴイイ!!!!

  • what does that mean and if im correct you wrote suuuuugoii...

  • jesus christ thats crazy racing!!!

    great sport though

  • I guess the lesson here is jump first and stay on the front!

  • brutal as fuck

  • dang that was really cool

  • nice i rekon the winner should of fallen off hahaha

  • Vote Adlington, Sunday 14th December for BBC Sports Personality Of The Year 2008.

  • who ever said that cycling and golf were not contact sport. E.C.F. EQUIPECLAUDEFRANCOIS

  • Those guys are insane... That is a hell of a way to make a living! At least they earn good money over there. I wonder how they would go in a kierin in Australia/UK.. No contact, no entering the sprinters lane.. Still.. Fun to watch!

  • try to find a Madison race to watch those are even more dangerous, but awesome to see.

  • Sadly keirin racing is a dying breed over there not alot of people do it and it is losing popularity very fast. They do not make alot of money over there also. But if people spread this sport more, it owuld be very popular due to the high intensity and physical contact involved.

  • it will become more popular. with all those "fixies" on the road, young people will become more interested in track bike racing in general...

  • is that bad?...

i doubt track bikes will ever get played-out..

  • pads or not theres a lot more contact than I would have though.

  • hahahaha does that stuff happen all the time?

  • yes. that's tracksprinting

  • Bikes all the time, Alpenrose Velodrome rules!

  • 何度みても鳥肌もんのレース!

    現場で見ていた・・・ゴチ吉岡!

  • a JAKA el la spudi!! de franh le tuki wuki lurutis ashjed proma!

  • sick crash

  • haha are they really japanese?? BANZAI!!!

  • damn, the guy in orange is probably thanking his lucky stars, geez

  • yeah it looks like they are all wearing shoulder pads. love this one.

  • Awesome vid.

The crash in this one is particulary good.

Question for anyone who has direct experience with Keirin:

Are they wearing some kind of shoulder protector?

  • Of course not. they only were a helmet.

  • they do wear a padded jersey. google keirin padding and you'll see. Some nyc bikeshops have the uniforms, and yes, there is padding.

  • wow... The only padding is the helmet. Do you really think shoulder pads would make a difference in a 45mph (not kph) bicycle crash. Goof.

  • Have you ever seen a Keirin uniform or a race in person? All racers wear a padded jersey and shorts in order to protect them from the track surface in the event of a crash. Unlike an average velodrome Keirin tracks have a fairly rough surface to allow racing when the track (usually outdoors) is wet.

  • these cyclists do because theres alot of jostling and crashes with the mad sprints.

  • Who cares if it is copyright infringement?! I don't; that's for damn sure...
