If you want to stay close to 5 Star i would stay at the Hotel Nacional however i would only stay at one of the executive rooms which cost around $US200 a night, the food is better, there is internet access and the staff look after you better.The standard rooms are rubbish and i would rate them at 3 star only. I stayed in one of these rooms for 2 weeks during my stay in Havana. The Hotel Nacional is a classic hotel and only $5 away from everything.Would stay There Again!
I stayed here with my family in May 2004, it was like travelling back in time 50 years thanks for reminders especially the La Veranda buffet restaraunt......that was choice!

(June 2008) Just returned from staying in this hotel... Marvellous!... A touch of 'old world charm', with completely modern facilities... If visiting Havana, this is 'the' hotel to stay! There are one or two other decent hotels, but none have the history or ambience of The Nacional!
