I think the exterior is overdone. When I had my 1991 mr2 turbo.. It was all original. Still looked and ran damn good and with only 93,000 original miles. It was a head turner. But this guys mr2 is badass! Just don't like the wing. But that's just my taste, it's his car and if he is happy, that's all that matters :)
There are rice burners and then there are tuned cars. This is the latter. That's a pretty sick amount of power for that little car. Should probably have a roll cage though.

@kazzda Actually, they use water to air intercoolers, not FMIC. There is less length from turbo to intake manifold on an mr2 than any FR car with an FMIC.
@kazzda thats why u use a air to water intercooler with a front mount radiator or if u dont mind loosing your boot you put a big ass air to air cooler in there.
MR2s are sick but the BOV sound they make is average. supras skylines and turbo 240s like sr20s and rb25s make a way better BOV surge sound. its not a whistle like these.

@RiceKiller191 must of gotten it second hand in used condition, thats the best I could think of. STS twin turbos go for $10000, this i know for a fact. I've been to a corvette show where a guy had a STS C5 Z06, two turbos cost him just over $13k, his car was shipped over to them and they did all the work. I dont remember its numbers but it wasnt putting out anything over 700hp with two turbos on its LS6.
@vetteburna From what I heard it was new buy he could be bullshitting. Yeah I got another buddy with a twin STS C5 and the turbo package alone was $11k. few other mods he put down 536 at only 7lbs. Once he gets his 42lb injectore (only running 38 now) a new cam, and porting his LS6 intake and heads , and bumping the boost up a bit he should be up around 650-675ish the shop estimated.

They basically rebuilt the entire car, right now its currently running on 600WHP I believe. Theres a vid of it on my channel from a couple years ago when he first took delivery of it from the guys.

@hot318 not really... all depends on how your willy's will put that power to the ground. and even still, it will still lose to this mr2. mr2's launch so damn hard with it being mid-engine with all the weight on the rear wheels. and your willy's will suffer from aerodynamics once you're over 90mph whereas the mr2 is pretty slipstream to do 200mph.

Found an 87 MR2 in really good exterior and interior condition for $2000, but found out the sycronizer was out of 5th gear, and it's not worth putting a tranny in it and paying that kind of money. Theres a bunch of cars for sale. theres a N/A Supra in OK for sale with engine & all for $850 & my Turbo shell came with the engine only that it was GE i bought GTE block & a turbo, oil cooler, oil cooler lines, oil filter bracket, pistons (Rods are same for GE & GTE.) Engine rebuild. So basically i spent about $2100 total to put all back stock. Watch out for half assed cars. theyre tricky & consume lots of time to fix.

The Mr2 is one of the most underratde sports cars of the 90's. It really did offer mini ferrari performance for a great price. The turbo came with 200 hp and 200lb/ft in a 2800 pound mid engine car for around 30K. There was no other car like it in the 90's other than maybe the lotus esprit s4 turbo. it ran a 5.96 0-60 and had a 14.8 sec 95mph 1/4 mile with a top speed of 145mph. It pulled a .95g skidpad test and ran through the slalom at 70mph.
But, I know of a design for an MR2 body kit that would elevate this little 4 cylinder to a whole other level. My design would make this car simply enthralled with the road. It's a design that should be but never was.

wow, a 3000+ lb car with ricer headlights and a new blow off valve...i agree the MK2 has nice styling for the MR series, but the MK1 and MK3 are much better due to their weight
@mynock05 sw20 turbo with full options is 2850 lbs. most with common weight reduction, like this one, are 2700 lbs. there are some race setups for street class under 2600 lbs. the sw20 is superior to the aw11 and zzw30 for power to weight and have better overall performance. A properly modded sw20 will easily beat the other 2 dollar for dollar. the sw20 is one of the best bang for the buck cars ever, especially mod for mod. aw11 is close. how many 400+ whp aw11 or mrs have u seen?

The actual Hemi that was around the time of the 440 was the 426. It powered the Roadrunner to over 220 mph on the NASCAR track back in the 60's. Big American v8's back in the day were producing more n/a horsepower than your shit box ricers could ever dream of achieving without a turbo.

@hot318 not really... all depends on how your willy's will put that power to the ground. and even still, it will still lose to this mr2. mr2's launch so damn hard with it being mid-engine with all the weight on the rear wheels. and your willy's will suffer from aerodynamics once you're over 90mph whereas the mr2 is pretty slipstream to do 200mph.

@drembie MR2's came with a N/A V6, at least in America they did, and this particular model has alot of work done. Most noticeable is the turbo.

American stock MR2's are either the 5sfe engine or 3sgte, neither are v6, however v6 is a popular conversion, don't get it mixed up.
@dremble, it's a turbo, stock it is 220bhp but engine, exhaust, ecu component upgrades lead to increased bhp.

it was a very nice car a, few ishues but a very nice car.i drove it back from wales. A lot of love and some great parts of the highest quality....but not sure it did 600 bhp it started to run out of fuel at near 500 didnt it???

Im looking for an average MR2, doesn't have to be in 100% great condition in Kentucky. Found an 87 MR2 in really good exterior and interior condition for $2000, but found out the sycronizer was out of 5th gear, and it's not worth putting a tranny in it and paying that kind of money. I'm looking for one under 160k miles, any generation MR2, I'd actually prefer a N/A model

@pimpdaddyxwing W/ 5 G's buy a MKIII Supra like i did. spend about $600 for car (it was VERY dirty but i cleaned it & now it looks very good & VERY good exterior) & i spent $1300 on engine to go stock. that would be $1900. Now if i had 5 G's - 600= 4400. id buy forged pistons & rods $1200 right there. 550's $535 right there. Titan motorsports turbo kit which includes walbro fuel pump $2300. left with $365 cash for AFM & machine shop to measure & deck head & block & buy MHG. :] 400-500RWHP

Only might spend couple hundreds on a dyno & dyno tuning. & yes it will come out more than 5K thats for sure. Im just setting down the prices known to be spent. the hidden prices come later. lol

@mccaf2250 Yes i was thinking for dyno tune about $1400.. & on Craigslist. Theres a bunch of cars for sale. theres a N/A Supra in OK for sale with engine & all for $850 & my Turbo shell came with the engine only that it was GE i bought GTE block & a turbo, oil cooler, oil cooler lines, oil filter bracket, pistons (Rods are same for GE & GTE.) Engine rebuild. So basically i spent about $2100 total to put all back stock. Watch out for half assed cars. theyre tricky & consume lots of time to fix.

The Mr2 is one of the most underratde sports cars of the 90's. It really did offer mini ferrari performance for a great price. The turbo came with 200 hp and 200lb/ft in a 2800 pound mid engine car for around 30K. There was no other car like it in the 90's other than maybe the lotus esprit s4 turbo. it ran a 5.96 0-60 and had a 14.8 sec 95mph 1/4 mile with a top speed of 145mph. It pulled a .95g skidpad test and ran through the slalom at 70mph.

@mynock05 sw20 turbo with full options is 2850 lbs. most with common weight reduction, like this one, are 2700 lbs. there are some race setups for street class under 2600 lbs. the sw20 is superior to the aw11 and zzw30 for power to weight and have better overall performance. A properly modded sw20 will easily beat the other 2 dollar for dollar. the sw20 is one of the best bang for the buck cars ever, especially mod for mod. aw11 is close. how many 400+ whp aw11 or mrs have u seen?
