One Turbo is correct, corvette just adds stuff to their new models just to try to keep up and look good for magazines's statistics. Corvette is very inconsistent, one year they put a huge inefficient engine, and the next they add a supercharger! porsche can get 115 hp per liter (natural aspirated) while corvette can only manage around 72 hp/liter ! highly inefficient, no argument there! remember what porsche does, evolution not revolution. Chevrolet needs to stick with a plan and make it work

So One turbo thinks adding a bigger motor and bigger brakes to already great plateform is not good engineering...well when that plateform increased in weight..as the Zr1 is heavier than the Zo6.

Put the Zo6 on equal tires...runflats are horrible for acceleration numbers and they don't give notice to limit... i improved my track time ...with just lowering and MPS tire change.....show the base componenetry is equal to if not just a hair slower.(the Zo6) but damn guys give credit where its do.......check the 1g handling and superb braking Acceleration has been proved to be low 11's in experienced hands Bone stock they have run 10.8 from the factory floor.Now how bad can that be?

the porsche is the more impressively built car but not for that reason. what is the gt2? a 911 with HUGE power, HUGE brakes, and HUGE SEMI SLICK tires. thats barely road legal while the zr1 is on run-flats with nearly triple the tread life. the zr1s engine is only 530 lbs anyway, compare to the "tiny" 3.6 liter in the gt-r that weighs 608. the problems start only when you look at the inside, which instead of a traditional supercar just lifts straight from cobalt. also weaker than plastic...

I don't get why some people can't understand how manufacturers performance claims can vary from test to test. Of course they will vary... drivers aren't the same, conditions (i.e. temperature, humidity, wind, road conditions etc.) so it's not hard to see how they can be different from one magazine to the other. Just take the quickest time recorded and recognize that these numbers are possible under the right conditions. Simple.
hey edmunds, im not getting how this gt2 went through a slalom 4.3 mph slower, posted 0.4 less on skidpad, and was 0.5 seconds slower 0-60 than the one road and track tested. i also dont get how you added 4 mph to the viper's slalom speed compared to r&t. other than that you always seem to have slightly faster slalom/skidpad always WAY quicker braking and slower acceleration. especially with these sticky tires i dont see how its so hard to get a good launch, why all the differences?
I'm prety sure that is not accurate. Porsche underrates it's cars, so 3.7 s to 60 seems slow for this car. Motor Trend tested the GT2 at 3.4 secs to 60, which seems a lot more accurate.
Who told you that? Porsches have notoriously quick 0 - 60 times due to the engine being over/behind the rear wheels. It's weight provides excellent traction off the line as it presses the rear tires onto the road.
I said 0-25 is not that fast as 40-65 or 50 -75. 0-25 is the slowest time getting to 100. Even one of the videos claimed the 60 -80 is less then 1 second!
And I'm saying it is! The point I'm making is 911s are quick off the line 0 - 25, 0 - 60, whatever, they get great traction from a stop for the reasons I already gave. Not too many RWD cars out there that can launch like a Porsche. AWD cars are good too but can bog down off the line.

They're known for their amazingly well designed cars. Nissans...their top models are the Skylines.. thats it. How can you say its not a skyline? The R35 IS a skyline. The R35 is merely the chassis code. Look up r32/r33/r34. exactly..GT-R has been on EVERY model skyline. The 32's, 33's, and 34's.

I'd prefer a GT2 or GT3 any day over a Nissan GTR even if the GTR is quicker. The GT2 lapped the Nurburgring only 2 seconds behind the GTR anyway and it looks and sounds better, has less computer assistance and is only rear wheel drive making it more fun to drive than a GTR. Driving experience is far more important than how quick a car is IMO. A GTR would SMOKE a Lotus Exige around a track, but ask ANY pro driver which was more fun to drive and every one would say the Lotus.

The GT2 and the GTR both have goods and bads. The GT2 is matched by performance by a car way cheaper (the GTR) and the GTR's quality in the long run may be crappy. all in all they are both really good cars in their own individual way...
I support my country...and My Zo6 is more sprts car than 99% of the people reading here can handle.. though its lightly modded its moded in every catergory sus/ brake/ engine....just to give it that extr sharp edge.
And that's the entire point. If I wanted a Corvette, I'd buy one. But I don't. A Porsche has so much more class than the Corvette, and is just an all-around better car. If you want the best performance for the money, get the Z06. If you want the best overall car, buy a Porsche.

well, road and track got 75.9 mph through the slalom in the gt2 (73.4 for zr1) and motor trend got 1.10 g on the skidpad for both cars, for some reason r and t got 1.03 in the gt2 and 1.10 on the zr1, these tests are always way different for some reason.
HAve you seen a Datsun Z car on the road lately? No, and if you do it is a pile of rust. The GTR is made to last 5 years and then it is scrap metal. Porsches can last you 40+ years. You can see old 356 Porsches todat that were bult in the 50's.

997 GT2 0-100 km/h is approx 3.6. They get 3.9 on this test because their takeoffs lack stability and their accels are noncontinuous causing the 3.9 read.

I was driving an 82 928S euro version and was thrashing that thing almost every day for the last year I owned it and the only things that broke were the sunroof and window buttons. Im surprised the clutch lasted with soo many 5000rpm launches.

One Turbo is correct, corvette just adds stuff to their new models just to try to keep up and look good for magazines's statistics. Corvette is very inconsistent, one year they put a huge inefficient engine, and the next they add a supercharger! porsche can get 115 hp per liter (natural aspirated) while corvette can only manage around 72 hp/liter ! highly inefficient, no argument there! remember what porsche does, evolution not revolution. Chevrolet needs to stick with a plan and make it work

So One turbo thinks adding a bigger motor and bigger brakes to already great plateform is not good engineering...well when that plateform increased in weight..as the Zr1 is heavier than the Zo6.
i think its smart engineeering.. Porshe can do the same....if it wishes to compete.
Porshes that are tracked have bigger brakes and wider tires and if boosted have higher boost and assioated compenttry..IC/ fuel systems/ bigger inj ect. stillMy Zo6 is able to kick ASS and make 200 mph. i never fail.

When your in a fighter jet do you care if the intruments are made of soft plastic or "corinthian leather" lol...No you care how well the plane performs...the Navigation is great...the stereo is great the leather is on the thin side but good...unlesss your fat. And the 3lz allows for a rather nice overall interior.
the exterior is funtional hence the 200mph with lowering and 50 more hp.

AND or the IMPAIRED RUNFLATS hurt the Zo6s performance.....with magnetic ride shocks..the Zr1 it touted over the lambo. the benz and the viper.... the difference.....ITS NOT ON RUNFLATS.

Put the Zo6 on equal tires...runflats are horrible for acceleration numbers and they don't give notice to limit... i improved my track time ...with just lowering and MPS tire change.....show the base componenetry is equal to if not just a hair slower.(the Zo6) but damn guys give credit where its do.......check the 1g handling and superb braking Acceleration has been proved to be low 11's in experienced hands Bone stock they have run 10.8 from the factory floor.Now how bad can that be?

the porsche is the more impressively built car but not for that reason. what is the gt2? a 911 with HUGE power, HUGE brakes, and HUGE SEMI SLICK tires. thats barely road legal while the zr1 is on run-flats with nearly triple the tread life. the zr1s engine is only 530 lbs anyway, compare to the "tiny" 3.6 liter in the gt-r that weighs 608. the problems start only when you look at the inside, which instead of a traditional supercar just lifts straight from cobalt. also weaker than plastic...

Yeah 50 hp is easy and cheap to get out of a 427 . with just a ram air duct and the k&n tune (duct sold seperately..100 bucks) ..you get 45-55 extra rwhp

I don't get why some people can't understand how manufacturers performance claims can vary from test to test. Of course they will vary... drivers aren't the same, conditions (i.e. temperature, humidity, wind, road conditions etc.) so it's not hard to see how they can be different from one magazine to the other. Just take the quickest time recorded and recognize that these numbers are possible under the right conditions. Simple.

hey edmunds, im not getting how this gt2 went through a slalom 4.3 mph slower, posted 0.4 less on skidpad, and was 0.5 seconds slower 0-60 than the one road and track tested. i also dont get how you added 4 mph to the viper's slalom speed compared to r&t. other than that you always seem to have slightly faster slalom/skidpad always WAY quicker braking and slower acceleration. especially with these sticky tires i dont see how its so hard to get a good launch, why all the differences?

I'm prety sure that is not accurate. Porsche underrates it's cars, so 3.7 s to 60 seems slow for this car. Motor Trend tested the GT2 at 3.4 secs to 60, which seems a lot more accurate.

Who told you that? Porsches have notoriously quick 0 - 60 times due to the engine being over/behind the rear wheels. It's weight provides excellent traction off the line as it presses the rear tires onto the road.

I'd prefer a GT2 or GT3 any day over a Nissan GTR even if the GTR is quicker. The GT2 lapped the Nurburgring only 2 seconds behind the GTR anyway and it looks and sounds better, has less computer assistance and is only rear wheel drive making it more fun to drive than a GTR. Driving experience is far more important than how quick a car is IMO. A GTR would SMOKE a Lotus Exige around a track, but ask ANY pro driver which was more fun to drive and every one would say the Lotus.

Ride quality...have you even been over 200? i have on my Busa.. and my GTO traps @ 140 and is good for 178 on the street....not bad for a 571 rwhp brick.

Also, you say that you own/ have owned an M3, a GTO, a Hayabusa, and a Z06 Corvette. Yet, you have the spelling and grammar 9 (and world history knowledge) of a middle schooler. well, road and track got 75.9 mph through the slalom in the gt2 (73.4 for zr1) and motor trend got 1.10 g on the skidpad for both cars, for some reason r and t got 1.03 in the gt2 and 1.10 on the zr1, these tests are always way different for some reason.

cuz they cant recreate eachothers conditions perfectly...there isnt much standardization for the tests, but the zr1 is the shit

HAve you seen a Datsun Z car on the road lately? No, and if you do it is a pile of rust. The GTR is made to last 5 years and then it is scrap metal. Porsches can last you 40+ years. You can see old 356 Porsches todat that were bult in the 50's.
So don't even compare a Porsche to a GTR.

AND IT IS THE BEST SPORTCAR I GOT IN MY LIFE, inaddition that my small bro have the gtr.. i respect it , it is one of the most safisticated cars in the world very high tech ..but in speed there is no comparison i love to drive them both ,, it is very quick on the curves u can go to very high G... plzzz no body say chinese ... i would haf to disagree with that, each country has their own specialties. but im thinking that you may be taking many japanese product or chinese products lightly. i know i for one cannot live without either nation. my house is full of sony products, other products like ipods which are made in china. besides i wouldnt have a bmw or merc if u gave it too me, its just a fashion accessory and breaks down far too quickly.

997 GT2 0-100 km/h is approx 3.6. They get 3.9 on this test because their takeoffs lack stability and their accels are noncontinuous causing the 3.9 read.
EVERYONE IN THE WORLD EXCEPT PEOPLE WHO EAT THEIR OWN PUKE WOULD RATHER HAVE THIS CAR THAN ANY JAP/AMERICAN CAR EVER BUILT (Including GTR/all versions of the vettes/vipers that have been/will ever be built). Why? because it is a thoroughbred of Porsche racing engineering, a heritage/quality/feeling of perfection unachievable by others.

got a 10 year old 911 driven hard with no repairs on motor, tranny, or anything other than replacing brakes/tyres/oil changes, and it is still showroom tight and showroom pretty.
i look at other rides that vintage and they are nowhere near that reliable, and their fitment is just not quality.
i will never understand why badge junkies and you-tubers that don't even own a car bag on others.

I was driving an 82 928S euro version and was thrashing that thing almost every day for the last year I owned it and the only things that broke were the sunroof and window buttons. Im surprised the clutch lasted with soo many 5000rpm launches.

actually the gt2 beat the gtr in all aspects of performance in the last car and driver test the only thing it has going is price but shett it still says nissan and this says porsche and im sure youre paying for some reliability and quality

The vid says GT2 0-60 time is 3,9 sec. The article says 3,5 sec for the GT-R
Quarter mile time is the same
GT2 slalom speed is 71,6 mph. GT-R slalom speed is 74 mph
Did I mention the 190k GT2 MSRP vs the 70k GT-R MSRP?
GT-R carries four. GT2 - only the driver and one passenger

the gt2 is a higher spec, so of course its going to beat the gtr in performance
because the gtr is stock, but nissan is going to release the gtr vspec which is a higher spec
so we will see who has better peformance when the time comes...
