Sonic just has the type of action you don't get i other games, especially mario. Not that I dislike the mario series, but come on, in 06, the worst sonic title for many, sonic practically skateboarded through an apocalyptic city. What one thing has mario done in any of his 5 major games(SM64, SMsunshine, Galaxy1&2, and new SMB) that's better? I'm seriously asking, I haven't seen to much of the last 3 games, owned 64, and had to force myself awake on sunshine. I took that rental back sooner.

@agentwow1 Sonic Colors was great and I don't know much about Sonic Generations but if the more recent games are telling us anything it's that it's just going to keep getting better. For a long time we've had some mediocre or simply crappy Sonic games, but they slowly got better. Sonic Unleashed was flawed but great, and while the nighttime stages got annoying, the speed levels were extremely fun and speedy. Sonic Colors had everything good from that, with fresh gimiks. It ain't dead.

@PerfectChaosGX i hate unleashed. daytime lacked platforming or exploration to compliment the speed and nighttime lacked speed to go with the platforming and exploration. colors was better because the platforming sections had more speed and the speed sections had more platforming. sonic generations was great too. it had platforming, exploration, and speed blended together.

@blooboy4747 Unleashed definitely was not as good as Colors, but it was a sign that things were only going to get better. I fairly enjoyed the daytime stages though they could have been much more like you said, and the nighttime stages we're either mediocre or just plain annoying, and on top of all that there were too many of them. You know, even Sonic and the Black Knight was an okay game if you ask me but it wasn't special like Sonic Colors was.

Well, it really wasn't a bad game, but it's just not that fun to play. I mean, yeah, the treasure hunting levels in SA2 weren't all that fun either, but then again, neither is most of Unleashed. The night stages have their obvious flaws, but the day stages have way too many bottomless pits, unfair level design, and Sonic himself just doesn't control all that great. The music, characters, and visuals are all great though.
