It's true what mike said! You have to keep the revs high as possible for a few seconds because there is still more speed to come even though ur at the maximum rev. It's how a turbo works in a front wheel car like this! So yeah you might think he's a dumb ass but until you've acctually done it then ur the dumbass!
techniacally you dont gain speed through the power band either, hence its called a power band not a speed band, all a power band is, is when the engine is producing maximum torque which in a my vtr MK2 i believe is between 5500-5900, obviously if bolt a turbo onto the engine youll pick up a power band in lower revs speed is picked up with different gear ratios e.g. ever noticed how in first gear a car is quick and jerky yet fifth gear tend to be a very slow pick up but also very smooth

power is nothing without control. I run a 2wd sapphire cosworth, 567hp (fly wheel figure) on a gt3076r turbo, i have installed a new 6 degree rear beam, 9j wide rear wheels and gaz coilovers. All that just to get the thing to put the power down! i've raced against a 106gti turbo, i will admit 1st gear was close, but by 3rd gear i was at the end of the dual carriage way when he was half way. the thing with saxo's & 106's is power to weight, fair play for making them som quick with a turbo
my mates 106 gti turbo would waste that its a one of build from pug sport it has a blueprinted engine that pushing 280 bhp on stage 3 boost also has 100 shot of nos on top also has a quaffe box in it and running emerald management he got the car from a bloke in london the gearbox cost 4 grand and he has receipts totalling 17 grand on the engine from pug sport but the engines capable of more power according to pug sport
@calibo555 - yeah, maybe they dont. but as there a hell of a lot newer they have bein designed not to wheel spin so much (like the focus rs has that new torgue steer thing i seen it on top gear haha). But hey enough power to them and they soon will. happends on every Fwd turbo car.
this is why saxos got a bad reputation, because of chavs who drive stupidly fast on those 15mph roads (where anyone can come out and you wont be able to brake) and kill people.

If he want's more out of he's car let me know, i know my shit.
