I really dont use any dip baits, just because I am searching for the larger fish. If I have kids out I may use Dip or Punchbaits, but just prefer live baits for bigger fish.
Actually, I have dissected over a hundred Flatheads and never found a bass . I have found a couple small walleye and lots of shad and suckers. I thought the same thing before I really saw it for myself.
man id love to catch fish in my part of the susquehanna. i live in wilkes-barre and im at the part where the coal mine disaster was. plus all the damn pollution from fuckin pittston. the whole city is an embarrassment. i need to go miles up the susquehanna past pittston where the water is actually clean. i have fished my waters 8 times for about 5 hours each time and ive only cat 2 cattys and 1 small mouth bass
I catfish above the york haven dam and never get in to the flatheads, always catch a good amount of channels but never any flattys. you guys ever do and good for flats above york haven dam?

@nintndogameplayer56 that waste water treatment... is my town. anywhere below my town (pittston pa) is polluted. aside from sewage. and the lakawanna (mine water) that dumps in. its bad news.
@Val0n btw how much lb test did you use? the biggest fish ive seen landed live, was a 29lb carp in the same river on 12lb test and it was snagged under the bottom fin.
nice fish man you guys should check out the king cat rods from cabelas great rods for cat fishing thats all me and my brother use and we catch i think the bigest was 35lb flat heads and they hold up great man we use live bait and the so the bait runners on em are sweet the only other reals that have em are slt striker and one other company im not sure or and there 65 and up just for the real where you can pick up a whole king cat rod for 70 bucks
My normal rods are Shimano Seguaro's and their 6000D baitrunner's for spinning reels or the TR100s for conventional reels. Its funny because so many of our 30+ lb fish last year came on that heavy action bass rod. It has surprising power for a lighter rod.
Too bad you didn't get the (2) 30+lbs fish we caught during our trip on video. Hope you got your camera fixed. That was the best fishing I have ever done. Can't wait to get out with you again this year.
Where is the best place to find catfish? Where do they "hang out"?

There are lots of Channels and a few Flatheads above the dam. Some of my biggest channels have come from above the dam.

We use 50-80 lb braided line. Mainly because of the cover we fish around
