I learned many years ago, at a training given by a substance abuse therapist, any thing in the place of a healthy human relationship is abusive. Whether it be drugs and alcholol-the internet, fried fatty foods, sugar and so forth.

I learned a teaching from the Baal Shem Tove that substance abuse from strong drink is blocking the Divine Voice calling out for the soul to return back to Creator!

Abit like drugs or alcohol, in its self is not evil but the what it does to us is displeasing to the almighty, and at times these things can be come addictions and become the center of our lifes.
